When the popularity of the "" Near Field Communication "" NFC proximity communication system was relaunched, it was already announced that, among other applications, the function provided by this feature would be enhanced to convert the telephone where it is installed into an electronic key.
This is not, however, the system which uses the Samsung Galaxy S3 to open the doors of the rooms in one of the hotel chain Holiday Inn in London, where they are about to start the Olympics, for which this mobile is the official phone.
However, without the need to resort to the NFC options, the Samsung Galaxy S3 can serve as an eKey to enter the stations that we have contracted in the aforementioned hotel chain. To do this, we would use an exclusive application designed expressly for the Samsung Galaxy S3, according to the Korean firm itself. Of course, options are restricted to 40 rooms at the Holiday Inn in Stratford City. Thus, it is a very specific service that, on the other hand, will not only serve to open doors.
The application is designed to operate with other functions. For example, it also turns the Samsung Galaxy S3 into a remote control to control the television that is in each of those 40 rooms. It is true that remote control functions from the mobile phone have been common for a long time, although in this case the communication between the terminal and the television is not limited to the classic infrared system, but, as it is a Samsung Smart TV, establishes communication using a native link between both computers.
But the thing does not end there. In addition to being able to use the Samsung Galaxy S3 as an electronic key and remote control for the TV, from the mobile we could control and customize other parameters of the room, such as the interior temperature managed by the room's air conditioner, as well as the lighting systems.
And not only that : the application installed on the Samsung Galaxy S3 also turns the phone into an extension of the fixed terminal in the room, giving a direct line to reception and room service. On the other hand, one of the accesses of this utility also concentrates the last informative hour of the Olympic Games in real time, so that the user does not miss anything of the sporting event.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is turning out to be the most successful device in the Korean firm's catalog. It has already sold more than ten million units, and continuing: the company expects to end the summer touching 20 million mobile phones. It has a 4.8 - inch type HD Super AMOLED, describing a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels.
In connections it is the most complete on the market: 3G, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth, MHL, microUSB and LTE options depending on the regional models that can be found wherever it is for sale. It has a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor and a RAM of between one and two GB.
