After months of rumors and leaks of all kinds surrounding Samsung's latest flagship, the Galaxy S20 - not the Galaxy S11 - it's official. The phone from the Asian firm comes with a design that mixes some ideas taken from the Galaxy Note 10 and the recently presented Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71. Its strengths, beyond the technical specifications of the device, come with two features aimed at improving the multimedia experience of the phone, such as the possibility of recording video in 8K resolution and the ability to make a digital zoom with no less than thirty increases, not to mention the implementation of an AMOLED panel with up to 120 Hz frequency.

Design: the commitment to the absence of notch is consolidated
Against all odds, the new iteration of Samsung has released a design that drinks directly from the Galaxy Note 10 and the company's mid-range.
The phone has a front almost entirely occupied by the screen, with a 6.2-inch diagonal that houses a notch to accommodate the front camera. This inevitably affects the dimensions of the device: only 15.1 centimeters high and 6.9 wide. Also in thickness and weight, with only 0.79 centimeters and 163 grams.
In terms of construction materials, the phone once again has glass and metal on its back and front. The IP68 certification to water to dust makes an appearance once again, as in the rest of the iterations of the phone. Note the curvature of the rear glass. The screen, for its part, only has a slight deviation, completely discarding the curvature of previous iterations.
The 120 Hz frequency reaches Samsung mobiles
Probably the most demanded feature by users. The company has finally integrated a panel with 12o Hz frequency, accompanied by a Quad HD + resolution and a density of more than 560 pixels per inch. Given Samsung's close relationship with Epic Games, it is likely that games like Fortnite make their game engine compatible with the 120 Hz of the terminal, although there is nothing confirmed at the moment.
Of course, the panel technology is Dynamic AMOLED, although the company has not given details about the maximum brightness. Nor is the technology implemented in the fingerprint sensor known, which is once again integrated under the screen. Everything indicates that we will find ourselves again with an ultrasonic sensor, the same sensor that we saw with the Galaxy S10 and S10 +.
8K recording and 30x zoom: the S20 camera dresses up
Outside of the 120 Hz refresh rate of the screen, the most striking novelty of the Samsung Galaxy S20 comes with the cameras, which undergo a necessary facelift in relation to the Galaxy S10 of 2019.
There are three cameras on the back of the device, with three 12, 12 and 64 megapixel sensors that are accompanied by three lenses: wide angle, ultra wide angle and telephoto. The latter has a technology called Hybrid Optic Zoom capable of providing up to three magnifications by mixing the characteristics of the optics with the software. It is followed by a system called Super Resolution Zoom that uses Artificial Intelligence to provide thirty magnifications.
Under our tests when making contact with the terminal, the images achieve a quite surprising degree of detail, considering that the phone uses software to lift certain parts of the photograph. When it comes to video recording, the phone is not far behind. Using the same 64 megapixel sensor, the terminal manages to record video in 8K resolution. As if this were not enough, the possibility of taking images in real time in a maximum resolution of 33 megapixels is included.
We move on to the front camera, a single 12 megapixel camera that in the absence of official confirmation uses the same sensor as the Galaxy S10. The specifications, therefore, are the same: focal aperture f / 2.2, 1.22 um pixels…
New processors and latest generation RAM
The new generation of smartphones debuts with new processors. Exynos 990 is the heart that moves all the machinery of the Galaxy S20. It is a processor manufactured in 7 nanometers with three two-core modules at 2.73 GHz, 2.6 GHz and 2 GHz. The most striking novelty, however, is found in the technology implemented in the RAM.
The new LPDDR5 standard reaches the RAM modules of the Galaxy S20, with quantities between 8 and 12 GB. The improvement over LPDDR4 memories comes hand in hand with latency and speed, which will influence multitasking performance. It is accompanied by 128 GB of internal storage compatible with micro SD cards up to 1 TB.
The final point to its specifications is the compatibility with 5G networks. Of course, the terminal has the latest in connectivity: NFC, USB type C 3.1, WiFi 6… It also has a 4,000 mAh battery with fast charging and wireless charging. The load capacities are unknown at the moment.
Price and availability of the Samsung Galaxy S20 in Spain
Samsung has not provided data about the price and availability of the terminal in Spain. Everything indicates that it will begin to be available from March for a price around 910 euros. We will update the article with all the information.
