The first analyzes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 are considering it as the best Android smartphone that currently exists on the market. We will have to wait to have it in our hands to be able to make such a statement, but apparently all that glitters is not gold. And, although none of us are going to carry out resistance tests on a device that costs more than 800 euros, some YouTubers do. One of the best known is JerryRigEverything and its new victim has been the new Samsung terminal. The tests have been the usual ones:scratch the screen and other parts of the terminal with different tips, burn it, try to bend it and some other outrageousness. The results have been, to say the least, surprising.
JerryRigEverything is known for putting all great devices through its stress tests. None escape. Just as other YouTubers perform crash tests of the terminal to see how it would behave in a somewhat more real environment, our protagonist is more in the extreme tests. But the best thing is that you see with your own eyes how the new Gorilla Glass 5 that has been used in the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 reacts.
The first thing we see in the video is an unboxing of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. After showing us the new terminal of the Korean company, we went to the stress tests of it. The first test is to scratch the screen with different types of tips, leaving the terminal quite damaged from number 4. The results confirm that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is less scratch resistant than its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
The next test is to scratch, with the tip of a cutter, the start button to see how the fingerprint reader reacts. After the test we can clearly see in the video that the fingerprint reader stops working. This result contrasts with the result obtained by other high-end terminals, such as the LG G5, which have been subjected to the same test, which continued to work even with the button seriously damaged.
Once the resistance of the start button has been verified, we can see how, with the same cutter, the protagonist scratches the sides of the terminal, including the volume buttons. Afterwards, the victim is the glass that protects the rear camera, which is punished with the same cutter with which the previous tests are carried out. Even the S Pen does not escape this test, being seriously damaged when the cutter is used on it.
To test the resistance of the glass included in the back of the terminal, the protagonist of the video uses one of the tips that we mentioned earlier. As you have seen, again, the glass is quite damaged.
After checking the scratch resistance of the terminal, we passed the burn test. It consists of applying heat to the screen using a lighter. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 lasts for about 8 seconds before the first pixels turn white. Some of its rivals, like the Samsung Galaxy S7 without going any further, held out longer.
Finally, the Note 7 is subjected to a folding test, perhaps the most useful test for our day to day with the terminal. Taking into account its 5.7-inch screen, we might think that if we sat on it, it could bend. In the tests, the protagonist of the video tries to bend the terminal with all his desire, but he does not flinch. Thus, we can say that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is quite resistant to bending.
As we mentioned at the beginning, what we have seen are really extreme tests that none of us are going to do in our homes. However, it is good to know that, if we want to keep the back and the screen without scratches, it would not hurt to buy a good protector.
