Yesterday we knew that the Samsung Galaxy S5 4G +, an improved variant of the Samsung Galaxy S5, had starred in some tests in which it appeared running under the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop version of the Android operating system. And as we have learned today, the South Korean company Samsung could have finally decided to skip the Android 5.0 Lollipop update on its high-end mobiles to update them directly to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, the improved version of Lollipop that includes some bug fixes.
This information has its origin in the American website SamMobile , from where they say with certainty that Samsung is currently working on the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop updates for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. Taking into account that neither of these two phones has yet received the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in Europe, it is not so unreasonable to think about the possibility that Samsung may withhold updates to its high-end phones to directly distribute the Android 5.0 version. .1.
And, according to different user communities on the network, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in some cases causes errors such as the usual WiFi problems, the also known battery problems and, something much more serious, problems with spontaneous shutdowns of applications that users leave open in the background.
These may or may not be isolated errors, the truth is that the American company Google did not take long to get to work on updating Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, and in fact both owners of a Nexus 4 or Nexus 6 and owners of a Nexus 5 can now download this new and corrected version of Android to their mobiles. Although we are not talking about a critical update, it is understandable that large manufacturers prefer to release a corrected version before anticipating the risk of generating errors for their own users.
Given this last minute change, when will users of a high-end Samsung Galaxy receive the Android 5.0 / 5.0.1 Lollipop update in Spain ? To this day we still do not have official information, and the only leaked document that exists in this regard indicates that the Lollipop update will reach the Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 3 between the months of January and February next year 2015, at least as regards the European territory.
In the meantime, the fact that this update begins to be available in some Asian countries should not surprise us, as is happening with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in Vietnam or as has happened recently with the Samsung Galaxy S5 in Poland, not to mention Talk about the Google Play version of the Samsung Galaxy S4.
