It seems that dual SIM phones are here to stay. This type of device, especially popular in the Asian market, has proliferated especially during this year 2012 for its distribution in Europe. At least, South Korean Samsung has wanted to promote this segment, and in fact has associated its most popular brand, the Galaxy, to this category. Thus, in addition to previous equipment, the latest equipment to be presented for the global market in this sense, the Samsung Galaxy S DUOS, brings together the design and mid-range features of this family with the possibility of having a couple of phone lines installed.
The latest to join this variety has been the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The mobile with the largest screen on the market and the most powerful processor on the smartphone scene will go on sale next December in a dual SIM edition. Thus, at least, it will be in China, where it will be possible to get this device for about 700 euros, as we have learned through Engadget.
There is no news about whether the South Korean multinational plans a distribution plan for western markets, nor has it been known so far in the case of the dual SIM edition of the Samsung Galaxy S3 that we told you about last week. In any case, given the spectacular trajectory that both terminals are describing, it would undoubtedly be a powerful bet on the part of the manufacturer, given that there are no top- of-the-range smart phones of this type in stores in Europe and the United States.
And we refer to the great trajectory that the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 are showing due to the sales they are registering. The S3, you know, has sold more than 30 million units. But the Note 2 is not far behind: according to the latest official company data, in the two months it has been on the market since it was put on sale, it has already managed to seduce more than five million users.
Or at least, there are five million devices that have been sold during this period, which is especially relevant if we take into account that it is not a particularly cheap terminal and that, due to its characteristics, it is not the type of smartphone that is oriented to a majority audience. With this, the success of the Seoul- based firm in having developed this concept that will be very familiar to us during the imminent 2013 is confirmed.
And the fact is that there are not a few manufacturers that seem to be joining the trend of mobile phones of five or more inches next year. Sony or HTC seems to have already prepared their proposals in this regard, and Samsung itself will dare to place its next Samsung Galaxy S4 in a very close format "" It is rumored that it will have a 4.99-inch screen. In this sense, it would have been the South Korean LG that has erred prematurely entering this proposal, since its LG Optimus Vu has circulated without pain or glory throughout this 2012.
