It seems that the road until February 26, 2017, in the middle of Mobile World Congress, is going to be long and noisy, because until its presentation that day, the trickle of news and rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S8 is being incessant. The latter claims that Samsung's next flagship mobile could work with a pressure-sensitive screen, with Force Touch technology . We have already seen this technology applied in Apple's iPhone 6S, and it is also repeated in its iPhone 7, although in their case they called it 3D Touch. This technology opens up a new field by exploring the possibilities of the screen itself in contact with the user's finger. Depending on the pressure level, you can open menus and options within an application, or even open different applications. Thus, the display takes on a distint dimension to so far, counting not only with the physical dimension of it, but a new dimension " inward ", so to speak. For now, no Samsung phone has had this technology, so the Galaxy S8, if it had it, would be a pioneer.
Developer issues
Despite the potential usefulness of this functionality, the truth is that the experience with Apple and its 3D Touch has not been as satisfactory as expected. There was no difficulty in convincing developers to include this technology in their applications, and thus its implementation took time to reach Apple's own phone. Today, it is still neither the favorite feature of users nor one of the most used. Maybe if Samsungacquired it for their phones, that would change the way of seeing developers, since they would face a larger potential market, and could make them change their minds. Therefore, although if confirmed it would be great news, we have to receive it with restraint, as we do not know its degree of application yet.
To the queue of rumors
This latest rumor joins an extensive list (and we are still in November) of rumors about the phone that could lift Samsung after the bad drink of the Galaxy Note 7. It is talking about a device 5.5 inches of curved screen (one is also contemplated second version 5.1), which leave the Edge version. This screen would have OLED technology and 4K resolution, in addition to Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Processor, an eight-core Snapdragon at 3 GHz speed and 6 GB of RAM. A rear camera of 30 megapixels and a front 9, with a battery of 4200 mAh and fast loading. In addition, it would work with Android 7.0 Nougat and have its own Artificial Intelligence assistant (it is suggested that it could be called Bixby). The addition of the Force Touch to the list only confirms that, if only some of these characteristics are met, we would already be talking about a monumental smartphone. We just have to wait for the next rumor, and keep rolling.
