Few terminals are creating more excitement than the new (and first) folding phone from the Samsung brand. The long-rumored Samsung X, it seems, will be presented with full honors at the future CES fair in Las Vegas 2019, to be held in January. Everything points, in addition, that it would be accompanied by the renewal of the Galaxy range, which would already be a decade among us. But let's get to what matters, because new news has emerged about the Samsung Galaxy X, the new folding phone from the Korean company.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, collected by the technology website The Next Web, the Samsung Galaxy X folding phone will have a seven-inch folding screen in addition to a secondary display bar on the outside of the terminal. A size that would bring the terminal closer to the lands of other similar ones such as the recently presented Xiaomi Mi Max 3 but which, by being able to be folded, could become a standard phone.
In January Samsung could present the new Samsung Galaxy X
If the new Samsung Galaxy X was presented in January we could have it in stores during the month of February. We still do not know if the launch will be global or if, being the first, it will be limited to the Asian market. What does seem to make sense is that the Korean manufacturer will see limited the production of this terminal in a range between 300,000 and 500,000 devices, which foresees that the units will be sold out soon. This is a terminal that causes an unusual curiosity, especially to see if its concept departs from some recent attempts such as the ZTE Axon M. In addition, the few units launched could fetch a high price in stores. It is rumored that it is a device that could reach 1600 euros to change.
We continue to discuss recent rumors that have emerged regarding Samsung's first folding phone. Samsung's battery manufacturing division, Samsung SDI could have considered manufacturing a curved battery for this Samsung Galaxy X in order to adapt it to the foldable OLED screen that it would have. According to rumors, the manufacture of the battery could be imminent and could reach the capacity of no less than 6,000 mAh. We do not know if a folding screen could put a higher demand on battery power. Undoubtedly, a battery of such capacity in a normal screen phone is not the same as in a folding 7-inch open and 4.5 when it is folded.
A 'real' flip phone?
Regarding the rest of the specifications, we can comment little more. The screen, apparently, could be bent without the need for visible hinges, undoubtedly the main drawback of terminals previously mentioned as the ZTE Axon M. Images that have emerged in recent times seem to point to the opposite. It would adapt according to whether we had the phone folded or open, placing two different screens, with different purposes and icons, in the second case. Regarding the interior of the Samsung Galaxy X we could have up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage.
Samsung's first folding phone could mark a turning point in the design stream for mobile devices. Just as the infinite screen or the double camera took a deep breath among users, who knows if we could find ourselves facing a new way to enjoy pocket screens, although at a price, at first, really high. We will leave doubts, according to rumors, next January at CES in Las Vegas.
