The facelift of Google with Nexus, after knowing that the next phones of the brand will not come with this name, is confirmed with the filtration of its Pixel Launcher, which comes to replace the so far Nexus Launcher (which at its It was once an evolution of the Google Now Launcher), and it is now available for download.
What is a Launcher?
The Launcher (launcher, in Spanish), for those who do not know it, is the home screen of an android smartphone, customizable and from which you can access the application menu, as well as the widgets that the user has selected. Something that we currently only find on Android, as opposed to iOS, which sends you directly to your application menu without any customization.
What's new in the Pixel Launcher
Although broadly what we find in Pixel Launcher is a repetition of the Nexus Launcher, it is in the small differences that we are going to see the distinction. To begin with, the Google search engine in the form of a bar becomes a little less prominent by becoming just a letter "G" in the upper left corner, with the same functionalities as always, yes.
Another variation, this time with a little more weight, is the replacement of the drawer classic application for an inverted blind, which would start from the bottom up, and allow us to view all the applications you have downloaded to the terminal. Sliding the blind down again, we would return to the Launcher. A slight change that, once accustomed, will be able to make our navigation a little lighter, without being groundbreaking either, yes.
Finally, and this is no longer a variation, the latest version of Google Launcher comes with a new repertoire of wallpapers for your Android device, divided into the categories The Earth, Landscape, Cityscape, Life and Textures, customizable so that may vary automatically with each passing day.
Let's remember that we are in the middle of the presentation season, so it is foreseeable that we will soon have news of the new Google Pixel terminals with which it intends to stand up to Apple and its iPhone, relying on the own production of phones, manufactured by HTC. (and by Sony, if we take into account the camera) at least in the case of the next Google Pixel Sailfish and Pixel XL Marlin, which will see the light of day on October 4. These terminals will come with the Pixel Launcher by default and we anticipate that with version 7.1 of your Android operating system, a small hint that your Launcher gives us, which also comes with that numbering in its download version.
If you want to have it in your terminal, download the APK of the Pixel Launcher and the wallpapers here, although keep in mind that they are not official links yet.
