Manufacturers are making a great effort to quickly get new versions of Android on their devices. With the arrival of Android 9 Pie, Google decided to launch the beta to other third-party manufacturers, such as Samsung, OnePlus or Nokia. However, not all models received it, and some have not yet been updated to this version. The Nokia 2, one of the manufacturer's terminals, will not even receive it.
This has been confirmed by Nokia through social networks. The company announced this device in 2017, and they secured two years of updates. It got Android 8.1 Oreo, and the promises of Android 9 were on the table. However, it seems that it will not. A Nokia support administrator has informed users that there was a misunderstanding with the announcement of Android 9 Pie, since the company's technical support did confirm this new version for the Nokia 2. But it will not arrive. It will also not be updated to the Android 9 Go version, which consumes less resources. Of course, it will continue to have security and general system updates.
Why aren't you getting Android 9?
It is strange that Nokia does not update this terminal. The company is usually quick to bring new versions to its devices, since collaboration with Google is very close and many of its terminals have Android One, a special edition with Pure Android and support for updates. In this case we could be talking about somewhat more technical problems, possibly a lack of performance resources for the installation of Android 9 Pie or incompatibility of some kind.
The Nokia 2 is a mobile with a 5-inch screen and HD resolution. It has a mid-range Qualcomm processor and is accompanied by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. This terminal also has an 8 megapixel main camera and a 4,100 mAh battery. Its price is about 100 euros.
