Almost a year ago the beta of Android 8.1 Oreo began to be available for the Nokia 2. About 12 months later, the stable version officially arrives on the device in some of the countries where it is marketed. Others will be left out. HMD Global has revealed that the update will not be operational globally, only in those territories whose mobile networks have approved it. The list of countries and operators in which the update will not land is as follows:
- Countries: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, Cyprus, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland (except Vodafone Ireland), Israel, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Peru, Poland, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine and Uruguay.
- Operators: Movistar Ecuador, Tigo Guatemala, Greece Cosmot, Telekom Romania, DiGI RO, Orange Romania, and Swisscom.
The Nokia 2 was unveiled in late October 2017 with Android 7.1 Nougat. A few months later, the Android 8.1 Oreo beta was approved, accessible to those who signed up for the Nokia beta labs program. Logically, since it is a test version and not the final one, many users complained of bugs and problems. However, the most fortunate will be able to enjoy almost a year later the final version of Android 8.1, more stable and with changes in the interface with respect to Android 7.1.
If you have a Nokia 2 in your possession and your country and operator are not listed in the list that we indicated a little above, then at some point you will begin to enjoy Android 8.1 Oreo. You can check yourself if the update is available from the settings section, software update. The normal thing is that you receive a pop-up message on the screen of your device advising you of the availability. When updating, you already know that it is important that you have a mobile phone with a sufficient battery level and that you are in a place with a stable and secure WiFi connection.
