The Nexus 6 Google is already receiving a corresponding update to Android 7.0 Nougat. Since its launch, the version has only been available for some Nexus and the only phone to hit the market equipped with Nougat as standard has been the LG V20. Unfortunately, there were some Nexus devices that were paused to update because major issues were encountered after the update. To the Nexus 6 we must add the Nexus 9 LTE. And although Google did not offer an official explanation at any time, it seems that with Android 7.0the battery of these equipments was discharging excessively. After some tests, Google has seen fit to bring up the update, so if you have a Nexus 6, you can start preparing to install it. are you one of the lucky ones?
The update has been launched for the common users who have a Nexus 6 in their pocket, also for those who are not enrolled in the test program (Android Developer Preview). The data package in question bears the code NBD90Z, although you will know it by its weight: 860 MB. This is a fairly thick update, so before launching it you will have to review certain issues and make a series of preparations. Logically, the update will arrive via FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) or Through the Air. This means that you will not have to connect the phone to any computer. We only recommend the following:
- Charge the battery of your Nexus 6 to the maximum, making sure that it is at least 50% of its capacity. This will prevent us from unexpected blackouts, with the problems that these could cause the device.
- Connect to a WiFi wireless network that can guarantee stability. We have already indicated that the data package is quite heavy, so you will need a good connection to download and install later.
- Check the space you have available. We have already indicated that we are facing an update that weighs more than 800 MB. This means that both to carry out the process and to start the update, it will be necessary that you have at least 1 to 2 GB free. Try to review the applications that you do not need and the contents that are taking up space on your phone without need.
- Try to make a backup of all your contents. All updates come with risks, so make sure you have a backup of everything that matters most to you.
The update to Android 7.0 Nougat brings a few important improvements. One of the most relevant is, without a doubt, the native multi-window mode, an option that manufacturers had incorporated until now, but which from now on will be available as standard with Android. Notifications are improved (groupable and interactive) and other features are included, such as a smart button for recent apps, improvements in quick settings, data saving function, support for different languages, more fluency and the famous improved Doze mode, with which that now you can save much more energy than before.
