Motorola is starting to roll out the Android 9 Pie update for the Moto Z2 Play. The update is being carried out via OTA (over the air), which means that it will not be necessary to use any cable to download it, simply be connected to a secure and stable WiFi network. The Moto Z2 Play debuted in July 2017 with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and was updated to Android 8.0 Oreo last year. Everything seems to indicate that this could be the last version available for the terminal.
As we can read in XDA, the Android 9 Pie update for the Moto Z2 Play has begun in Brazil, although it is a matter of time before it reaches all the territories where it is marketed, including ours. Normally, when the time comes you will receive a pop-up message on the screen of your device advising you of the update. If not, you can check it yourself from the settings section, about the device, software updates.
Android 9 Pie brings numerous changes and improvements to the Moto Z2 Play. Among them we can mention an adaptive battery system, which learns from your usage patterns to save autonomy. Also, it will be possible to have redesigned and improved quick settings, as well as a timer for applications. In this way, we can know how much time we spend hooked on an app and set a limit if we think that it takes us too many hours. To all this we must add a more secure, stable and faster system.
Some tips before updating to Android 9
Before updating your Moto Z2 Play to Android 9 Pie, it is better that you take these tips into account to put them into practice.
- Do not update the mobile without it being fully charged or at least 60-70%. Keep in mind that if the update process is interrupted for any reason, it is possible that the terminal will end up being unusable and you will have to buy a new model.
- Before updating, make a backup copy with all the data and files that you have stored. So if something happened during the process you could recover them.
- Avoid updating with unsafe or open WiFi connections or with your own data connection.
- Do not under any circumstances interrupt the update when it is in process. Always wait for it to finish completely.
