The rumors were correct. After the controversy with the Galaxy Fold, Samsung dares with a new smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. The phone arrives with a design very similar to the Motorola RAZR, with a vertical arrangement that folds the screen to reduce the size of the device. In fact, the terminal inherits part of the design of the Samsung Galaxy S20. If we talk about its technical specifications, the terminal leaves some characteristics of its older brothers in the pipeline. Let's see what Samsung's latest bet has in store for this 2020.

Design: a Samsung Galaxy S20 that folds and a revamped screen
The Galaxy Z Flip debuts with a design practically known to everyone. Following the lines of the Galaxy S20, the phone has a 6.7-inch diagonal composed of two screens: a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen with Quad HD + resolution on the inside and a 1.1-inch AMOLED screen with resolution 300 x 112 pixels on the outside.
The latter is limited to displaying system notifications, along with the time and weather information. The interior screen, for its part, has a series of functions aimed at taking full advantage of the folding of the chassis when the mobile is folded: real multitasking with certain applications, use of the internal camera as a mirror…
Unfortunately none of the screens inherits the 120 Hz of the Galaxy S20 in its three variants. Another difference that we find comes from the screen format. With a 21: 9 aspect ratio, the phone is generously longer than the Galaxy S20.
Beyond the functions of the terminal, Samsung has emphasized the technology implemented in the panel, a technology that is called Ultra Thin Glass (UTG). Not many details have been given, but everything indicates that it comes to solve the problems present in the Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Hardware at the height of the high-end of 2020 with some unknown
In the absence of official confirmation from the company, the Galaxy Z Flip inherits the hardware part of the S20. At the moment the processor model has not been confirmed, although everything indicates that we find the Exynos 990 present in the Galaxy S20. The module in question is made up of eight cores and 7 nanometers, and comes with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, apparently without the possibility of expansion.
All of this is powered by a 3,300 mAh battery with fast charging and wireless charging. Details of the implemented systems have not been disclosed. What we can anticipate is that the battery capacity may be low taking into account the diagonal of the screen. For the rest, the terminal uses all kinds of connections: WiFi a / b / g / n, NFC, USB type C 3.1, Bluetooth 5.0. The absence of WiFi 6 and 5G stands out, something that we can find in the Galaxy S20.
Decaf photo section - no zoom or extra lenses
If the S20 series stands out for its photographic section, the Galaxy Z Flip leaves part of the news released by these in the inkwell. No AI-based zoom systems or macro and ToF lenses, like the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
There are two sensors that we find in the terminal. Both have 12 megapixels of resolution, the difference between one and the other is found in the lenses: while the first has a 78º wide angle lens, the second uses a 123º ultra wide angle lens.
If we move to the front, the phone has a single 10-megapixel sensor. Its focal length is f / 2.4, and it has a series of adapted functions that take advantage of the virtues of the fold of the chassis, such as taking photographs with the terminal folded as a mirror or viewing content in the gallery while viewing a photograph in the upper half Of the device.
Price and availability of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip
Samsung has just confirmed the price and availability of the terminal, although not in Spain. It is known that it will be available from next Friday, February 14 for a price that starts at $ 1,380. The change in euros is 1,250 euros, which could be increased to 1,300 euros, taking the 1: 1 conversion survey that manufacturers are not used to.
Upgrade
The phone goes on sale in Spain for a price of 1,500 euros.
