It has been exactly one year since Huawei will show the world the Huawei Mate X, the folding phone of the Chinese firm that finally did not become a reality in Spain. Now the company publishes a version that will officially arrive in Spain, and it is neither more nor less than the Huawei Mate Xs. A mobile that inherits its brother's design. Design: a single screen to conquer them all
Unlike models like Samsung's Galaxy Fold, the Mate Xs comes with a single folding screen that functions as a tablet and smartphone at the same time. Specifically, the phone uses an 8-inch OLED screen that consists of two folds, one with 6.6 inches and the other with 6.38 inches. The resolutions of the three folds are 2,480 x 2,200, 2,480 x 1,148, and 2,480 x 892 pixels respectively.
If we talk about the design of the terminal, this is identical to that of its predecessor. The back is accompanied by a material that simulates being leather, and its thickness is only 5.4 millimeters: 11 millimeters with the phone folded. Huawei has also claimed to have improved the folding mechanism, with a resistance that improves by 30% compared to other materials.
New processor without Google services in sight
The Huawei Mate Xs hardware is completely renewed compared to the 2019 version. The phone has a Kirin 990 processor, the latest processor presented by the Chinese firm that lacks certification by Google, which prevents it from having Google services, and therefore, with its applications.
Regarding the available memory configuration, the terminal replicates last year's specifications: 8 GB of RAM along with 512 GB of internal storage. Again we find the presence of a 5G module in the hands of the Baloong 5000 chip, together with a 4,500 mAh battery compatible with Huawei's fast charge of no less than 55 W.
Huawei has also announced software enhancements that help adapt the particular screen format to system applications and functions. These improvements translate into customizable gestures, split-screen applications and tasks in pop-up windows as if it were a computer.
Same four cameras as its predecessor
The photographic novelties of the Mate Xs with respect to the Mate X are non-existent. The phone has the same configuration as the original model: three 40, 8 and 16 megapixel cameras accompanied by a ToF sensor for capturing 3D images.
Regarding the specifications of the different sensors, the three cameras have a focal aperture f / 1.8, f / 2.4 and f / 2.2 that are equivalent to three lenses of 27, 80 and 17 millimeters.
Price and availability of the Huawei Mate Xs in Spain
The price at which Huawei has announced the phone is 2,500 euros for its only version with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. It will arrive from next month in Spain and the rest of European countries.
