Battery for three days (or more)
Neither 3,000, nor 4,000 mAh. Nothing more and nothing less than 5,000 mAh is the capacity that Xiaomi has decided to provide its battery. This whole set is accompanied by an 18 W fast charging system compatible with 2 A and 5 V chargers.
Like most fast charging systems, the terminal uses a USB type C to power the main battery module, although unfortunately it is based on the 2.0 standard.
Design that - finally - is renewed
Xiaomi's A series has historically been characterized by integrating sober designs due to the low cost of its models. With the eighth iteration the brand has decided to implement the same design as the rest of Redmi phones.
6.21-inch screen with a notch in the shape of a drop of water and frames that are reduced if we compare them with those of past generations. The screen, by the way, uses an IPS LCD panel with an HD + resolution. It will be necessary to see if it is sufficient in terms of definition, since it has only 271 pixels per inch.
The rest of the design sections replicate what we have seen in previous iterations of the phone: absence of a fingerprint sensor, body made of polycarbonate and P2i splash protection.
Qualitative leap in cameras and same hardware as its predecessor
One of lime and another of sand as far as technical and photographic section is concerned. And is that while the terminal maintains the same characteristics as its predecessor model, the rear camera takes a qualitative leap, reaching the same level with other terminals of the brand, such as the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite.
In summary, the Redmi 8A has a Snapdragon 439 processor, 2 and 3 GB of RAM and 16 and 32 GB of internal storage: the same configuration that we found in the Redmi 7A. Consequently, we find the same connections: WiFi b / g / n, FM radio, Bluetooth 4.2.
If we move to the photographic section, here the terminal shows its rear camera with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor and focal aperture f / 1.8, this being the same as that of the Mi 8 Lite. As for the front camera, it uses the same 8 megapixel sensor as the Redmi 7A.
Price and availability of the Xiaomi Redmi 8A in Spain
Since the presentation of the phone has taken place in India, the prices and availability of the Redmi 8A have not yet been confirmed in the rest of the countries. Converting rupees to euros leaves us with the following roadmap:
- Xiaomi Redmi 8A of 2 and 16 GB: 83 euros to change
- Xiaomi Redmi 8A of 3 and 32 GB: 90 euros to change
