The Mobile World Congress is getting closer every day and invitations from different manufacturers have started to arrive. This year LG wanted to present its flagship on the same day that Samsung will present the Galaxy S7, on February 21. However, the presentation of the LG G5 will be a few hours before that of Samsung's top of the range.
Last year Koreans introduced the LG G4 at the end of April, a few months after the Mobile World Congress. However, this year LG has changed its plans and will present its new high-end terminal within the framework of the fair. The chosen day is Sunday, February 21, the same day that Samsung has chosen to present the Galaxy S7. Will the LG G5 manage to take away the prominence of the Samsung Galaxy S7 ? We are going to review what is expected of the new LG terminal.
With the LG G4, the Koreans risked going against the rest of the manufacturers. While all high-end smartphones already featured a metal unibody body, LG's latest device was launched with a leather casing. It seems that users did not like it too much, not to mention that with use the leather was worn and damaged. This year it seems that the LG G5 will include a metal body.
As for the screen, LG has been using QHD screens since the LG G3, so this year it could take a leap in quality and incorporate a 4K screen in the LG G5. Speculation has a 5.5 - inch screen with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. The density would reach no less than 801 dpi.
Of course, a generation change will be accompanied by a processor change. All rumors indicate that LG's chosen processor will be a 4-core Snapdragon 820 manufactured by Qualcomm. This processor would be accompanied by an Adreno 530 graphics processor. To finish off the whole, the Koreans would expand to 4 GB of RAM compared to the 3 GB that the LG G4 mounts.
The LG G4 lacks some features that other premium smartphones do. For example, it does not have a fingerprint sensor, so fashionable in the latest smartphones. So hopefully the LG G5 incorporates the fingerprint sensor, presumably located on its rear, just below the camera. Although other rumors indicate that LG could risk and incorporate an iris scanner in the LG G5.
But the Koreans at LG like to differentiate themselves from the competition. If last year they used leather, this year, in addition to the aforementioned iris scanner, it seems that the novelty could come in the battery. It is rumored that the LG G5 could incorporate a removable battery. But how do you combine a removable battery with a metal unibody design? In the opinion the LG G5 could equip a kind of bay bottom that would remove the battery for replacement.
If the leaks that appeared are true, the LG G5 could incorporate a USB Type-C connector. Another change at the design level could be the relocation of the volume buttons on the sides, thus eliminating them from the rear. The camera module also looks like it could change, perhaps incorporating some kind of new flash.
It seems that LG could have a lot to say this year with its new LG G5. Will all the predictions come true? On February 21 we will leave doubts.
