LG is beginning to roll out the Android 8 update on the LG G5 in all parts of the world where the device is marketed. The new update also includes the September security patch and is compatible with Project Treble, the tool that will allow you to update from Oreo to Android 9 more quickly. In any case, from PhoneArena they assure that Oreo could be the last important sftware update that the LG G5 receives since it went on the market two years ago with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
If you have an LG G5 with model number H850, your phone is ready to receive the update to Android 8 via OTA. Therefore, you will not have to use cables to download it. As we say, it comes with the September security patch, with the relevant improvements to be more protected. The update is also coming gradually, so it may take a few weeks to have it on your device. The normal thing is that you receive a warning message that pops up on your screen. However, you can check if it is already available from the settings section, about the device, software updates.
Android 8 has a large number of improvements and features. One of the most important is the one known as “picture-in-picture”, a feature that allows users to view two applications at the same time. In this way, for example, it is possible to continue watching a video while working on other things. Or enjoy navigation on Google Maps, even if the application is not being used in the foreground. Another feature that should be highlighted is the warning point system. With it it will be possible to quickly see all the news that occurs in the applications. This always comes in handy if you have a lot of notifications in the terminal.
On the other hand, with Android 8, Google has wanted to settle two other basic issues: battery and performance. In this sense, Oreo includes a new system to reduce the activity of the applications that are used less. This means that the battery can last much longer. It also includes a boot to start the phone faster. To this must be added the tool named Autofill, with which you can automatically access your favorite applications.
Before updating to Oreo, check that your LG G5 has more than half the battery. Also, avoid doing it in places with open WiFis or with your own data connection. Better wait to get home.
