The LG G2 from the South Korean company LG is beginning to receive the Android operating system update corresponding to the most recent of all versions, Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The latest news related to this update indicated that the LG G2 would be updated in mid-February, but finally, European users have had to wait until this month of March to receive the same update as the one received by Koreans during the month of December.
Leaving these data aside, we are going to take a look at the news that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update brings with it in this terminal. The first thing users who update their equipment will appreciate is that the interface has received a redesign that includes a renewed taskbar, a new full-screen mode and other novelties that are noticeable at first glance when navigating the phone menu. In the aspect of the operation of the LG G2, with the updated Android 4.4.2 KitKat this terminal gets greater autonomy (ie, the battery lasts longer compared to the previous version of Android) and, in general, the operating system takes better advantage of the characteristics of the phone to offer greater fluidity.
In addition to these two aspects, the update also incorporates the Google Cloud Print application, aimed at printing documents wirelessly through Bluetooth or WiFi connectivity, and certain improvements in the Knock On option, which allows you to unlock the terminal screen with a couple of taps on it.
Let's not forget that, as with all Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates, each country may have a different release date to publish the update. In addition, the first to receive this type of update are users who have purchased the phone in its free version, while users subscribed to an operator usually have to wait a little longer (generally a few additional weeks).
The procedure to update our LG G2 to Android 4.4.2 KitKat is very simple, and more specifically we have two options to achieve this task:
- The first option is to wait for our terminal to notify us, through the task bar, of the existence of this update. In that case we will simply have to follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
- The second option is to manually check if the update is already available and, if it is, download and install the file also manually. If we want to follow this method, we would simply have to enter the “ Settings ” application of our terminal to find the “ About device ” option and, once inside, update the phone manually.
At the moment we do not have any information that could confirm or deny that LG is planning to update another smartphone to this version of Android. In the calendar of updates that we published a few months ago, the LG G2 was the only terminal to appear in the list of possible terminals of this manufacturer that can be updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
