Fingerprint readers have become commonplace within the mobile phone industry. More and more models have this system. Either on the start button itself or on the back. The truth is that as the market progresses, and we find models without a start button or without the presence of bezels, there is a need to find other locations to place it. Apparently, the fingerprint reader will begin to be present on the device's own screen. This solution would begin to reach mobile phones throughout this year.
For months it has been rumored that the next Samsung Galaxy S8 is the first team to have a fingerprint reader on the screen itself. The latest images of the phone reveal that it does not. The South Korean company would choose a completely different solution and move it to the rear of the terminal. In any case, the future of incorporating this sensor in the panel itself is guaranteed.
Fingerprint module maker CrucialTec is one of the first to make a breakthrough in this field. The company confirmed that it would begin supplying Samsung with on-screen fingerprint scanning solutions later this year. The security solution enables fingerprint authentication on a smartphone screen, eliminating the need to add a Home button or to have the scanner on the back of the device.
A CrucialTec spokesperson confirmed that this type of solution, called the Display Fingerprint Solution or DFS, has already received positive responses from its customers. Therefore, the first smartphones to integrate the new solution will be available on the market in 2017. According to rumors, the sensor will be sensitive enough to detect the touch of a single hair. In addition, it will be able to recognize a fingerprint at a high resolution (500 dots per inch).
