After the week of the CES 2015 technological event presentations, we once again have to return to the path of rumors related to the American company Apple. On this occasion, the protagonist is the iPhone 6S. According to different sources from Taiwan, the new iPhone 6S could incorporate a RAM memory with 2 GigaBytes of capacity. In addition, this memory type would become LPDDR4, which would result in faster data management while maintaining the same battery consumption.
The LPDDR4 type RAM memories are precisely the same as those that some sources indicated that the new iPhone 6 would incorporate. Finally, the fact that the production of these memories cost 35% more than that of LPDDR3 memories was the main reason that Apple did not incorporate this memory in its current smartphones.
But, as indicated by the Asian website Tech News Taiwan , these problems have already been solved in such a way that the new iPhone 6S could incorporate an improved RAM of the LPDDR4 type with 2 GigaBytes of capacity. Compared to processors that incorporate current iPhone 6 from Apple, this improvement of the new iPhone 6S would result in a faster data transfer (allowing tap twice the bandwidth up to 34 Gbps) with battery consumption reduced.
It must be borne in mind that, today, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus incorporate a RAM memory with a capacity of 1 GigaByte and with LPDDR3 technology, so if this information is true we would be talking about an important jump of performance. Although, at the same time, it would be necessary to see how Apple would take advantage of this performance improvement taking into account that, as pointed out by ITProPortal , many of the applications of the iOS operating system only use a third / fourth of the RAM memory of current iPhones.
As regards competition from Apple, most of the flagships of the market incorporate a memory RAM type LPDDR3. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with 3 GigaBytes of RAM or the Samsung Galaxy S5 with 2 GigaBytes of RAM incorporate LPDDR3 technology, while other mobiles such as the Sony Xperia Z3 (3 GigaBytes) or the Nokia Lumia 930 (2 GigaBytes) also incorporate memories. RAM of this same type.
The other technical specifications of the iPhone 6S are a complete mystery at the moment. The presentation of the new iPhone 6S could occur much earlier than expected and, even, some sources have dared to ensure that Apple will present its new smartphone coinciding with the launch of the Apple Watch smart watch. In this way, the presentation of the iPhone 6S could occur before the second half of 2015.
