There is no doubt that one of the most frequently asked questions when someone considers getting an Apple iPad is how to open Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents on the device. In other words: if the apple tablet equips applications to open and modify files generated with Microsoft's Office Suite.
Although there are applications that bring the experience of editing documents Office to the iPad (as DocumentsToGo), really Microsoft has not developed any utility package that is able to boot natively, the files of the popular office suite, as we know it, for example, in Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.
But that looks set to change in 2012. Through the specialized site TechCrunch, we have learned of information published by The Daily website, in which they refer to authorized sources of the multinational based in Redmond, and which indicate that next year they could release a new one in the App Store solution for documents registered in the Microsoft Office category.
Without any official date for this release, the presentation could coincide with another major event related to the family of tablets from Apple: the launch of the iPad 3, raised as stated in the gossip of the sector to March 2012, in the wake of the above terminals. Thus, one of the attractions that the new device could integrate (transferring this feature to the iPad and iPad 2 editions) would be the native integration with Microsoft Office documents.
If the Office application package bears a minimal relationship with the one we already know on its native platform (Windows Phone), we could presume that it would work with the editing of documents in the cloud, so that editing a file on a platform (computer, laptop, mobile or tablet) would modify the same document on all media that have viewing permissions.
On the other hand, the launch of Office for iPad could be part of the launch strategy of Windows 8, the new version of the operating system for PC computers, which will be designed for tablets. In fact, Nokia would be working on the development of a device to work with this platform, which could be made public in June 2012.
