We had been advancing it for a few weeks, and today it has finally come true. Huawei has finally announced the release of the stable version of EMUI 8.0 for the Huawei Mate 9. A long-awaited update, as this system is based on Android 8.0 Oreo. Although at the moment the update is not available via OTA, it is possible to download it manually. It is also possible to request the update by entering the Huawei Mobile Services application and making the request.
At the beginning of October we showed you the first Android 8.0 Oreo screen in the Huawei Mate 9. As is logical, Huawei includes the new features of the Google operating system. For example, we will have the well-known Picture-In-Picture, as well as improvements in the process of applications and notifications.
As for features added by Huawei, EMUI 8.0 includes, for example, the ability to change the screen resolution. A button is also added to the navigation bar, which allows us to permanently hide the bar.
But perhaps the most interesting is the new gesture control on the screen. These can replace the navigation bar. For example, swiping from left to right to open the recent apps drawer. Bluetooth settings have also been added in the developer options.
Less visible will be the new AI that includes EMUI 8.0. This is responsible for allocating resources to frequently used applications. It will also improve applications such as the camera, which will now be able to recognize scenes and offer suggestions.
No less important is the incorporation of the PC mode that we already saw in the Huawei Mate 10. With this mode we can achieve a complete desktop experience when we connect the mobile to an external screen. This is similar to what the Samsung Dex does, but using a single cable. We can even connect a wireless mouse and keyboard, thanks to dual Bluetooth support.
Other new features will be the split screen function and dynamic wallpapers. As we mentioned, the update to EMUI 8.0 has already been officially announced, so we will not have to wait too long for it to reach the Huawei Mate 9 via OTA.
