Huawei announced an extensive list of devices that were going to receive EMUI 9, the company's personalization layer, in its latest version. One of the first phones to receive this update is the Huawei Mate 20 Lite. It is already being deployed in Spain and we will show you how to update.
The update you will receive is version 9.0.1.164, which includes some improvements, such as GPU Turbo 3.0, wireless projection or control of apps through Digital Wellbeing or 'Division' for object recognition. In addition, it could come with improvements in system stability, a new security patch and new functions in the cameras. We do not know if it also receives Android 9.0 Pie, as it is not specified.
How to upgrade to EMUI 9
This version arrives through OTA to your device, so you won't have to connect any cables or download files from the browser. Just wait for a notification to appear. Although you can also check yourself if the version is already available to update. In that case, you will have to go to settings> system> software update> check for updates.
You can also try another option, download the update through HiCare, Huawei's support app. You just have to click on the 'Update' button that appears in the quick services option. The download will start automatically. Keep in mind that it will be necessary to have a stable WI-FI connection.
As is usual in this type of download, it is advisable to have a battery of at least 50 percent, as well as internal storage available for downloading the file. On the other hand, it is advisable to make a backup of your data. On Huawei phones you can do it through Huawei Cloud in a simple way. The device will need to restart and if a problem occurs you can always restore to the previous version.
