The Chinese company Huawei has resolved, through an official statement, all the doubts that may exist in relation to the update of Android 4.4 KitKat. Huawei has confirmed that it will not update the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 to the Android 4.4 KitKat version, and therefore this smartphone - launched on the market at the beginning of this year - will remain running under the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean version for the rest. of its useful life. In addition, this also means that the Mate 2 will not receive any interface update either (as of today it works under the Emotion UI interface under its Emotion 2 version).
The main problem with this news is that users of the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 are left without the opportunity to test the Emotion UI 3 interface in first person, the new version that brings the recently launched Huawei Ascend Mate7 as standard. This version of the Emotion UI brings with it interesting improvements such as a completely renewed design, an improved battery saving mode and an option to use the virtual keyboard with one hand, among other changes. On the other hand, the Android 4.4 KitKat update would also have meant in the Mate 2the introduction of a range of interesting new products such as lock screen improved a higher performance and probably a greater autonomy.
Huawei has not given any specific reason to justify this decision, and has only limited itself to informing that “ the Mate 2 is only the first of the many products that we will offer in the coming months, and users can expect superior technical specifications running under the latest versions of the operating system ".
Of what there is no doubt is that the technical specifications of the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 are not responsible for this mobile not going to be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat. Remember that we are talking about a smartphone that incorporates a screen of 6.1 inches with 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution, a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with four cores running at a clock speed of 1.6 GHz, a graphics processor Adreno 305, 2 Gigabytes RAM memory and 16 GigaBytesinternal memory. The starting price of this smartphone was set at a figure close to 250 euros.
On the other hand, facing the products that Huawei has prepared for the final stretch of this year, it is worth highlighting the recent presentation of the new Honor 3C and Honor 6. These are two low-mid-range smartphones whose starting prices seek to attract the attention of users who are in search of an affordable mobile; the Honor 3C has a price set at 140 euros, while the Honor 6 reaches 300 euros.
