The HTC One M7, also known as HTC One (2013), will not be updated to the recently released Android 5.1 Lollipop version of the Android operating system. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update will apparently be the latest version of the Android operating system to receive this smartphone from the Taiwanese brand HTC, as confirmed by a senior official at the company. It remains to be confirmed whether the HTC One M7 will remain running forever under the first version of Lollipop or if it will be updated to Android 5.0.1 / Android 5.0.2.
This confirmation has its origin in the social network Twitter, where Mo Versi - a senior HTC official - has had a conversation with a user who asked whether the HTC One M7 would receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop update and, if so, on what approximate date its distribution would begin. Mo Versi replies to this message stating that “ Only the GPE versions of the M7 will receive the Android 5.1 update. Estimated time of arrival is April. Thanks ", to which another user -apparently annoyed with the answer- replies" What has happened to the "Updates for two years"? "
Mo Versi settles the conversation by assuring that " We have updated the M7 for two years since its first version of the operating system ." Therefore, we can confirm that the HTC One will not receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop update, and it does not seem that it has a chance of receiving the versions of Android 5.0.1 or Android 5.0.2 -at least officially-.
The question that HTC One owners are probably asking themselves right now is… does Android 5.1 Lollipop bring enough news to make you miss this update? On a visual level, the interface novelties that Android 5.1 brings with it are minimal. But, in the performance section, numerous tests have shown that -at least as far as the Nexus range devices are concerned- the Android 5.1 Lollipop update represents a significant performance improvement compared to the Android 5.0 update. This performance improvement has only been demonstrated on devices in the Nexus rangeTherefore, it is still too early to say that mobile phones from other manufacturers will also receive this same improvement in their fluidity.
As a curiosity, it should be remembered that the HTC One was presented officially back in the month of February of the year 2013 with the release of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean of the operating system Android. And precisely in February of this year 2015 has been when this smartphone has begun to update to the version of Android 5.0 Lollipop.
