In recent weeks many rumors related to the Samsung Galaxy S5 (curved screen, metal case, eye sensor, etc.) have been appearing. Leaving aside how striking these news may be, the truth is that so far the South Korean company Samsung did not seem to have any important news in the face of the most basic specifications of its next flagship. And we say "so far" because precisely a new rumor has just been known that indicates that the Galaxy S5 will incorporate a new type of battery with greater autonomy and with a charging time much less than the current one.
This supposed new battery would have a capacity of 2900 mAh, which means that we would be facing a capacity of 300 mAh above the battery that incorporates the Samsung Galaxy S4 (2600 mAh). While it is true that it would still be a somewhat questionable capacity for the type of terminal in question, what is really interesting about this information is that Samsung would incorporate a new type of Li-ion battery that would be capable of storing 20% more energy in the same space.
This new battery is already marketed by a Silicon Valley company called Amprius, and there are currently many electronic devices that incorporate this new technology among their specifications. In short, what makes this battery so special is that inside the graphite (the material used in current batteries) is replaced by silicone. In addition to allowing much greater autonomy, these revolutionary batteries also significantly reduce charging time.
Even so, we must remember that for now we are only facing a rumor that has not yet been confirmed or denied. What does seem to have been fully confirmed are some of the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S5, as recently unveiled.
For example, it has been known that the Galaxy S5 will hit the market in two versions: a version with a plastic case and another version with a metal case. The cheapest version would be the plastic one, and it would cost about 650 euros, while the metal version would have a starting price of 800 euros. But the material of the case would not be the only difference between these two versions. The plastic version would incorporate a Snapdragon 805 processor, while the version with a metal casing would include the modern Exynos 6 eight-core processor, developed by the South Korean company itself.
Likewise, the Samsung Galaxy S5 would include a screen AMOLED of 5.25 inches with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The operating system of this terminal is no secret, since the Galaxy S5 will have the latest version of Android installed as standard, Android 4.4 KitKat.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 should be officially presented at an event to be held in London in mid-March this year.
