The ceo of samsung confirms the fingerprint reader on the screen of the samsung galaxy s10
Dj Koh, in charge of Samsung's mobile division, has confirmed that the next Samsung Galaxy S10 will have the fingerprint reader under the screen. It's a long-rumored feature that looks set to finally come true next year. During a public appearance, the executive assured that the Galaxy S10 will enjoy a better experience with the fingerprint reader inside the screen to gain comfort. Of course, he has not given more details, so we do not know how we can access it.
From what we know from the latest rumors, Samsung could launch its flagship in three screen sizes for the first time. We would have a Galaxy S10 of 5.8 inches, another of 6.1 inches and a more virtuous one of 6.4 inches. Apparently, this fingerprint sensor inside the panel would only be available for the models with 6.1 and 6.4 inches. It is very likely that the 5.8-inch will arrive with a visible one on one of its sides, leaving the rear position at once, as has been the case in the last two generations.
It is clear, therefore, that the feature of the fingerprint reader on the screen (“FOD” for its acronym in English) would be the star feature of the next high-end of the South Korean. In fact, the firm would take the opportunity to exploit it, since the next Apple models would not have this function. They would maintain their bet on Face ID or facial recognition. Likewise, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently commented that both the Galaxy A range and the Note 10 would also have this feature in 2019. This sensor would be being developed by the companies GIS and O-film, using the technology patented by Qualcomm last year.
For now, these are the only data we know about this new feature. It is very likely that Samsung will present its new Galaxy S10 during the celebration of the next Mobile World Congress. The event will take place in Barcelona from February 25 to 28, 2019.
