After having overcome the hangover of enthusiasm caused by the possibility of assisted unlocking of the iPhone 4S or iPad 2, in recent days a multitude of additional possibilities have been discovered with which to increase the options of our devices after having gone through the operating room of the Jailbreak Untethered. We were already referring in fact to the new applications linked to Siri, the virtual assistant of the iPhone 4S, and today we can insist on new options that are added to get even more out of this exclusive feature.
Today we have to talk about Lingual. We are facing an addition "" not expressly an application "" with which Siri can translate up to 30 languages using the Bing engine, which is, to say the least, ironic. Through the iJailbreak site we have seen a test of Lingual's performance, and it seems that the operation is very satisfactory.
As we said, we could download Lingual from the Cydia repositories, so that when installing it it would be added to the Siri configuration as part of the programming that this application uses to work.
However, now it would integrate a system so that giving it the order "translate" "" which in the case of Hispano-speakers will have to be done in English, French or German, which are the only languages that Siri is able to recognize at the moment "" tell us how the phrase we would like to formulate is said in another language.
Unfortunately, Lingual does not integrate an audio engine so that we know the correct pronunciation of the translations, so we would have to venture to formulate the sentences without knowing the exact loudness that would be made in the desired language, which would be a novelty to have in mind for future updates of this addition to Siri.
To be able to use Lingual, remember that you should have previously installed the AssistantExtensions utility, which is used precisely to include additional additions to the code of certain applications, such as Siri, without having to resort to complicated processes, if not we have technical notions about it.
