Google wants to bring its Smart Assistant service to entry-level mobiles that have the KaiOS operating system, based on Linux and that ' fuses the power of a smartphone with the accessibility of a basic phone '. KaiOS is a successor to Mozilla's operating system, which the company optimized for inexpensive devices based on the old system's web platform.
In the coming months, Google will update its Smart Assistant so that it can work on those low-end mobiles that use KaiOS to work. In this way, the users of the operating system will be able, through Google Assistant, to dictate text messages, web searches or anything else that uses a text box to function.
The Google Assistant for everyone
The Wizard, like the KaiOS operating system itself, can be configured in several different languages. What does this mean? Well, we can have the language of the phone in English (menus, submenus, settings) and speak to Google Assistant in Spanish. As part of today's announcement, Google will offer the Assistant in seven new languages: Indian, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, and Urdu.
In addition, and in the near future that we hopefully, Google would also bring to its Assistant for low-end terminals the so-called Third Party Actions, that is, the equivalent of the skills that we can find in Alexa. The different actions of third parties are already activated in the Google Assistant that we know, such as, for example, asking the Los40 application to open its station, or to read us the news of the day, or asking the El PaĆs application to read us some of its main sections.
The Google Assistant requires, for its correct operation, that the mobile phone has the Android 6 Marshmallow operating system or higher versions installed, the latest version of the updated Google Play services, have, at least, 1.5 GB of RAM memory and an HD screen resolution (720p) or higher.
