Doro is a Swedish manufacturer that has specialized in users over 65 years of age. Taking advantage of the MWC 2018 celebration, it has presented two new terminals. The first is the Doro 8035, an easy-to-use smartphone with all the functions of an Android terminal. The second is the Doro 7060, a foldable mobile phone that combines some of the functions of smartphones with the design of traditional mobile phones. Both terminals have an application to be able to configure the terminal remotely. This will allow family or friends to help the owner of the mobile when doubts arise regarding the use of the device.
According to recent studies, the penetration of smart phones in Spanish users over 65 is similar to that of the population as a whole. However, studies by Doro indicate that 46% of older users feel insecure when adopting new technologies. Users' needs also vary, for example depending on their physical condition. The study reveals that 82% of seniors have vision problems, 29% have hearing problems, and 43% experience problems with holding or handling a mobile phone. Most consumer smartphones do not adapt well to the needs of our elders. For this reason, Doro has specialized in mobiles for this sector of the population.
Doro 8035
The Doro 8035 is a terminal that makes it easier for older people to use it without losing functionality. When starting the phone for the first time, the terminal guides the user so that they can choose the layout that best suits their needs. In addition, it has an "extra easy mode", ideal for users without experience in smartphones.
For those who do have some experience and are looking for a more complete interface, the Doro 8035 also has a “standard profile”. This is more similar to the classic Android interface, but with some features that Doro adds. These include large text and icons and high contrast. It also includes an intuitive button, which allows the user to perform quick predetermined actions, such as calling or writing their family or friends.
Additionally, the Doro 8035 also incorporates Team Viewer functionality. This allows to connect to the smartphone remotely to help the owner of the terminal to make some configurations.
The Doro 8035 features loud and clear sound, an easy-grip design, robustness, an emergency alert button, and three physical buttons.
Doro 7060
The Doro 7060 is a foldable mobile phone that combines some smartphone functions with a classic design. We are talking about an easy-to-use, fourth-generation folding device with support for the VoLTE standard.
The terminal has a 2.8-inch screen. In addition, it includes an external caller ID through a 1.44-inch screen. In addition to incorporating large, spaced keys, the phone has a physical button for taking photos, an emergency alert button, and remote access via mydoromanager.com.
The most common applications, such as Facebook or WhatsApp, are not missing either. At the moment, neither the price nor the availability of the new Doro terminals have been revealed.
