Differences between jailbreak tethered, untethered and semitethered
With the presentation of the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system - known as iOS 5 -, many users are fervently waiting to be able to apply the system unlocking better known as Jailbreak. But many of the new users may not know that there are different versions of this movement and they do not know what it is either.
To start, apply or Jailbreak an Apple computer -be it an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch in its different versions-, it means that the terminal in question will be unlocked and free to use applications that are not hosted in the application store Apple: the App Store. Rather, the user can download applications from the alternative store known as Cydia.
Another aspect to take into account is that applying the Jailbreak to an iPhone does not mean that the mobile is released to use a SIM card from any operator. These two terms tend to get confused. For the latter, the user must obtain an unlocking code that the operator with whom they have contracted the services must give the client once the permanence contract ends. Another option is to pay for it or try to unlock it at your own risk.
But getting fully into the different Jailbreak processes, once they are released to the general public, the user must know how to differentiate between the three possible movements that are known as: Jailbreak Tethered, Jailbreak Untethered and Jailbreak Semitethered. Let's briefly explain what each one consists of:
First of all, the Tethered Jailbreak is the least recommended method, as it is the most annoying to use. Why? Because, although it is true that it unlocks the terminal and will allow the use of Cydia applications that have not been authorized by Apple, the user must resort to a computer every time the mobile is turned off. Once the battery runs out or the terminal is restarted, the power-on processor will be left half-measures: it will not pass the apple icon. To be able to turn it on correctly, you must plug it into a PC and apply the Jailbreak again.
The second case corresponds to the Untethered Jailbreak. Perhaps, this is the most used and favorite method of customers. This method unlocks the terminal, but unlike the previous method, this one does allow the Apple computer to turn on normally and continue working without any type of restriction; the Jailbreak will be active until the client decides to restore the system again. This version is being created by the relevant developers and, although the new icon system is being the most difficult to unlock since this option came out, there are already indications that it could possibly be released to the public in the following weeks.

Lastly, the Semitethered Jailbreak is the newest method of all. Of course, it also unlocks the terminal and eliminates the need to reconnect the mobile, tablet or player to a computer, if the battery runs out or restarts. Although, watch out. The terminal will restart normally but it will only allow calls to be made or received or to send and receive short text messages (SMS); applications that have been downloaded from Cydia or the alternative store itself will not be available.
In addition, the possibility of viewing email or using the Safari web browser will not be available until the mobile is reconnected to the computer. That is, unlike the Jailbreak Tethered method, the mobile is not totally useless, although it is very limited. However, apparently and as indicated by some portals, it is possible to browse and view email via the web using a third-party browser. That is, it is not the computer's source browser.
