It will be on September 26 when we would supposedly meet the Nokia Lumia 1520. We refer to the first phablet with which the still Finnish firm will tackle the market for large-format screen phones. A six-inch FullHD panel and a quad-core processor equipped with great power are the first guarantees with which the team has been anticipating, which would have another attraction in the camera to seduce the public. It would be, as we know from WMPowerUser, a PureView unit. But unlike what is seen in theNokia 808, Nokia Lumia 920, Nokia Lumia 925 and Nokia Lumia 1020, the sensor that would integrate the Nokia Lumia 1520 would have a new resolution scale. Neither 8.7 nor 41 megapixels: in this case it would range between 16 and 20 megapixels.
A screenshot taken from the Nokia Lumia 1520 camera configuration options published by the aforementioned media specialized in mobile terminals with Windows Phone shows it points precisely in this direction. What is presented is a panel that lets you select the resolution of the captured image, ranging from a choice of five megapixels and another five to 16 megapixels. This second possibility registers a couple of files of both qualities. The idea would be to keep a copy in maximum resolution, reserving the five megapixel one so that said capture serves as a file to share when it is sent by email, messaging and others. Thus, the great weight of the photography of16 megapixels would not be a problem when using it to send it by different means.
In this case, it seems clear that the sensor of the Nokia Lumia 1520 would be 16 megapixels. However, in the Nokia 808 and Nokia Lumia 1020 we have seen how the maximum resolution finally ends up slightly reduced in the captured images. Thus, 41 megapixles sensors such terminals result in their highest settings, images 34 and 38 megapixels, depending on whether the capture box is defined by a ratio 4: 3 or 16: 9, respectively. Thus, in the case of the Nokia Lumia 1520we could expect something similar, with an effective decline in the record, while maintaining a high quality standard. Remember that this option to perform a dual capture with files of different resolution of the same image is already present in the Nokia Lumia 1020.
When asked why Nokia would have decided not to integrate the PureView as a header in its Nokia Lumia 1520, we could elucidate a quite plausible possibility: size and weight. Although with the Nokia Lumia 1020 the manufacturer has managed to greatly reduce the size of the PureView sensor, the reality is that it is still very large, something that added to the dimensions that we have already begun to anticipate for the Nokia Lumia 1520 would have resulted in a mammoth terminal and worryingly heavy. With the presence of a camera of 16-20 megapixels, the Nokia Lumia 1520You save yourself the hassle of adding unnecessary grams to the scale, which ultimately translates into greater appeal.
