What is the operator with the best (and worst) coverage in Spain?

2025

Table of contents:

  • Vodafone offers the best mobile coverage in Spain, but not the fastest
  • Some changes in the mobile network landscape
  • Aún queda mucho por hacer

Vodafone stands out from the competition and is positioned as the operator that offers the best mobile coverage in Spain. It is one of the conclusions drawn from the latest RootMetrics study carried out in our country to analyze mobile coverage. And it can become a very interesting study in this area, since all the operators constantly insist on their improvements in the coverage network or in the percentages of the population that they cover with their network, but they are usually their own data instead of elaborated by external companies.

Vodafone offers the best mobile coverage in Spain, but not the fastest

The Vodafone network has become unmarked from those of other operators and is at the top of the ranking, offering the best mobile coverage in our country. RootMetrics has confirmed this data after studying the networks in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza, Malaga and Bilbao. In the study, mobiles purchased in the operators' own stores were used. The terminals have been used to send messages, surf the mobile Internet and make more than 100,000 calls on the street, indoors and on the road, both day and night.

The result makes it clear: Vodafone is the best network in global score, although it is convenient to add certain nuances. The victory is evident in Valencia and Bilbao, but in the other four cities analyzed there is a tie with other operators: a tie with Movistar in Malaga and with Orange in Zaragoza and Madrid, while in Barcelona there is a triple tie between Movistar, Vodafone and Orange.

In addition, it must be clarified that in data speed the Orange network is the winner: it leads in speed in five cities and ties with Vodafone in another.

Some changes in the mobile network landscape
