The Gmail application for Android allows us to instantly receive notifications and notifications on our mobile phone every time a new email arrives. Given that throughout the day we can receive dozens of different emails, it is essential to configure email synchronization to avoid interrupting our activity with messages of little importance (advertising, promotions, etc.). That is precisely what we teach you in this tutorial: configure Gmail synchronization in detail.
Configure Gmail email synchronization on Android
The first thing we are going to establish is how many emails we want to synchronize on our mobile. Many times the fact of storing too many emails can generate memory problems in the internal storage of our phone (especially if it is a mid-range mobile). Likewise, if we want to be aware of the details of the mail, we do not need to see messages that are many days old. In short, the steps we must follow to configure the synchronization of incoming emails are the following:
- First we will enter the Gmail application. We can find this application in the list of applications on the phone under the icon of an envelope with a letter inside.
- Once inside the application we must open the options window. To do this, we will press the button on the phone that is generally located next to the " Go Back " button. A small floating menu will open in which we must click on the " Settings " option. It does not matter if we have one or another email account open, since then we can select the account we want to configure.
- In the Settings window we have to click on the Gmail account that we want to configure regarding its synchronization.
- Now we will see the configuration window corresponding to the email account that we have specified (our email address should appear at the top of the screen). If we look at the options that appear below, we will see that a heading appears with the name of " Data usage ".
- The options that appear under this heading are: Synchronize Gmail, Days to sync mail, and Manage labels.
- First we will have to make sure that the option " Synchronize Gmail " has its respective box activated with a blue "tick".
- In the option " Days to synchronize mail " we can specify the age of the emails that we want to have synchronized on the mobile. If we have little storage space on the mobile, it is advisable to enter a low figure.
- Finally, if we access the " Manage labels " option, we will see that we can configure the synchronization for each of the labels that we have in our email (main messages, advertising, etc.). This option is especially useful for activating details such as vibration when receiving a new email on the phone.
