With current technology, connecting a mobile to the TV to duplicate the image is something that we can do with relative ease. In Samsung mobiles, this process is even simpler, since most devices are compatible with MHL or HDMI. We can also make the connection without cables through third-party accessories or through the wireless functions of the TV. This time we have made a compilation with all the methods to connect a Samsung mobile to the TV with cable and without cable.
Smart View, the easiest way to mirror your screen on TV
For a few years, Samsung has implemented a function called Smart View that allows us to duplicate the mobile screen on the TV. The only requirement that we will have to meet is that our television has Screen Mirroring technology. Previously we will have to enable this function through the TV settings in question.
The next thing we will have to do is slide the notification bar down on our Samsung mobile and then click on Smart View. The system will automatically start searching for compatible devices under the same WiFi network. Once connected to the television, the image will be broadcast directly on the television screen, from applications and settings to video games.
If your mobile has USB type C 3.1, use an HDMI adapter
The Samsung Galaxy S8 was the company's first phone with USB 3.1. This connection allows us to turn the phone interface into a windowed desktop operating system with true multitasking. This feature is called Samsung Dex.
To enable it, simply connect your phone to an external monitor or TV using a USB Type-C data cable or a USB Type-C to HDMI adapter. We leave you below with some adapters.
After connecting the phone to the TV, the interface will take the form of a desktop computer, as we can see in the image below.
If we use a multi-port adapter we can connect keyboards, mice, console controls, external hard drives and a host of accessories.
Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV to mirror image without cables
If we have some of these devices on our TV we can duplicate the image of the phone without any problem. Both devices allow you to duplicate the images of certain applications, such as YouTube or Netflix. In general, an icon similar to that of a television will be shown, as we can see in the following image:
We can also duplicate the system image through different applications. It all depends on the options of each application.
If your Samsung mobile is old, use an MHL adapter
The MHL standard is out of date with today's standards. Virtually no current model has such technology, only Samsung phones of a certain age, such as the Galaxy S5 or the Galaxy Note 4.
Unlike the USB 3.1 standard, this interface is only limited to duplicating the mobile screen, that is, we will not be able to adapt the interface to that of Samsung Dex. Neither the resolution nor the format: if the mobile is in portrait, the TV image will be displayed in portrait format. Also, a special accessory is required to serve as a mirror to duplicate the image 1: 1. We leave you below with a couple of accessories compatible with this technology:
