Although the iPhone 11 has not been the great revolution that many of us expected, the truth is that it does include some interesting news. However, not all of them are exclusive to the new model. Apparently, one of the most prominent features of the iPhone 11 Pro will also be available on the iPhone XS and XR. We refer to the ability to record with multiple cameras simultaneously. It was one of the novelties that caused the most applause at the presentation and it seems that it is a new feature of iOS 13, not exclusive to the new iPhone models.
We met this new feature when the Filmic Pro developers took the stage of Apple's last keynote. This almost professional recording application was the ideal one to show the new video capabilities of the iPhone 11 Pro. And one of the most striking features of those they showed was the possibility of recording video with the different sensors of the mobile simultaneously. That is, it can be recorded at the same time with the front and rear cameras. But also with the main sensor and the ultra wide angle, thus expanding the creative options in editing.
The option to record with several cameras at the same time will be brought by iOS 13
The good news for users who opted for a model last year is that they will also receive this new functionality. As it is not a feature that depends exclusively on the hardware, multisensor recording will be available on iPhones from last year.
Specifically, it will come to the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR when the final version of iOS 13 is available for download. It will also come to the iPad Pro of 2018, another of the most powerful devices that Apple has in its catalog.
According to Apple, this feature requires specific hardware, hence pre-2018 models are not supported. We imagine that the limitation is set by the processor of the devices.
Of course, the only models that have an ultra wide-angle sensor are the new iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. So one of the most attractive combinations on a creative level, which would be to record at the same time with the main sensor and the ultra wide angle, will not be available on last year's iPhone. We imagine that in these we will only have the simultaneous recording of the rear and front cameras available. We will have to wait for the final launch of the new iOS 13 to check it.
