The smartphones of the iPhone range of the American manufacturer Apple incorporate an option that allows us to share our Internet connection through different means. It is a very useful addition to share a connection with another device, so that we can use the data of our rate both from our mobile phone and from any other terminal (a laptop, a tablet, another mobile, etc.).
In this tutorial we thoroughly explain how to share the Internet connection from an iPhone. Let's take a look at both the wireless way of sharing data and the traditional way over a cable. In either case, it is essential that we have a data rate (it can be 3G or 4G) on our iPhone.
How to share the Internet connection from an iPhone
First of all, we must have a 3G or 4G data rate available on our iPhone, since it is the only connection that we can share with other devices. We do not need to activate this connection before starting the tutorial, as it will be activated automatically by following the steps indicated below.
- We enter the Settings application of our iPhone.
- Once inside, click on the option " Share Internet ".
- A new screen will open in which we will see that the first available option is accompanied by an activatable button and a message such as: “ Activate“ Internet Sharing ”to share the iPhone's Internet connection. This service can be paid ". As indicated in these instructions, we activate this option by clicking on the white button.
- From here we have several options to connect to the data of our mobile from another device. If we want to make the connection through a USB cable, we must first connect the cable to the mobile and to the equipment that we want to add to our connection. Once connected, we activate the previous option. The cable connection is highly recommended to connect -for example- a laptop, since it allows us to charge the battery of the mobile while we use the data rate.
- The other option is to connect to our data through WiFi. To do this, we activate the WiFi connection from the device that we want to connect to the tariff, we look for the name of our iPhone and activate the connection by entering the password that is indicated in the " Internet Sharing " section. If we want to change the password, we simply have to click on the " Wi-Fi Password " option on the mobile phone to later enter the new password.
- We also have the possibility of connecting to the Internet through Bluetooth, in which case we must link the device that we want to connect with our mobile. Of the three available options, this turns out to be the least recommended of all since it generates a high battery consumption.
