Just below this we find the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, a terminal whose price is right in the middle of the Mi 9T and whose differences in characteristics do not differ so much from what one might think at first. What mobile is worth buying? Find out in our comparison between the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 vs Xiaomi Mi 9T.

Design

The design is, surely, the section where the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 vs Xiaomi Mi 9T have more differences. And it is that while the first opts for a traditional design made of metal and glass with a drop-shaped notch on the screen, the Xiaomi Mi 9T integrates a much more complex design based on a retractable camera mechanism.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 design

Thanks to the mechanism used in the latter, the Mi 9T takes advantage of its front surface up to 90% of the total size of the device. This directly affects the size of the phone, with a difference of 0.3 centimeter in height and 0.1 centimeters in width compared to the Redmi Note 7.

The thickness, for its part, exceeds that of the Redmi Note 7 by 0.7 centimeters. The weight in both cases is similar, approaching 190 grams due to the theoretical capacity of the battery.

Xiaomi Mi 9T design

It should also be added the finish on the back, reflective in the case of the Redmi Note 7 and with shapes that vary with the incidence of light in the case of the Mi 9T. The latter, by the way, is accompanied by a physical fingerprint sensor on the Redmi Note 7. The Mi 9T, on the other hand, integrates its fingerprint sensor on the screen.

screen

It is not for nothing that the Xiaomi Mi 9T has an on-screen fingerprint sensor. The panel of Xiaomi's wealthiest model uses a 6.39-inch screen with OLED technology and Full HD + resolution.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, for its part, has a 6.3-inch panel with Full HD + resolution and IPS technology. The theoretical difference between the two is based on the fidelity of the black colors, the dynamic range and, of course, the presence of an on-screen fingerprint sensor.

Another aspect where the OLED implementation exceeds that of IPS has to do with energy efficiency, by turning off the pixels that represent the color black. Also the brightness of the panel is higher in the Mi 9T, with no less than 600 nits compared to the 450 of the Redmi Note 7.

Photographic set

We come to one of the most interesting sections of the comparison between the Xiaomi Mi 9T vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.

If we take a look at the photographic section of the Redmi Note 7, Xiaomi's mid-range mobile opts for two 48 and 5 megapixel cameras with focal apertures f / 1.75 and f / 2.4 and telephoto lens in the case of the secondary sensor. The main sensor, by the way, is based on the well-known Samsung S5KGM1, a lower-end model intended for mid-range and lower-middle-range mobiles.

As for the Xiaomi Mi 9T, the recently released model of the Chinese brand has three cameras of 48, 13 and 8 megapixels with focal apertures f / 1.75, f / 2.4 and f / 2.7 and wide-angle and telephoto lenses in the case of the secondary and tertiary sensors. Unlike the Redmi Note 7, the main sensor of the Xiaomi Mi 9T is based on the Sony IMX586, a model that until now we can only find in the high range.

What differences can we find between the camera of the Mi 9T and the Redmi Note 7? Beyond the technical data, the Xiaomi Mi 9T has a much more complete photographic section than that of the Note 7. Higher quality photos thanks to the Sony IMX 586 processing and a more portrait mode achieved thanks to the 8 megapixel telephoto lens. The integration of a wide angle lens also adds a plus of versatility, allowing us to take pictures with a greater field of view.

Moving to the front of both devices, the picture is very similar when it comes to cameras. A 13-megapixel camera and f / 2.2 focal aperture is what we find in the Redmi Note 7. The main sensor of the Mi 9T uses a 20-megapixel camera with an f / 2.0 focal aperture. Higher overall quality in the photographs and a level of luminosity more suitable for night scenes is what we can deduce from the front camera of the Mi 9T.

Processor and memory

The difference in price between one and the other could make us think that the differences in terms of internal hardware are more notable than in the rest of the sections. Nothing is further from reality.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 has a Snapdragon 660 processor accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and 32, 64 and 128 GB of internal storage expandable by SD cards up to 256 GB. On the part of the Xiaomi Mi 9T we find a Snapdragon 730 processor along with 6 GB of RAM and 64 and 128 GB of internal storage. The latter is not expandable via micro SD cards.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7

If we ignore the technical data, the differences in performance between one and the other go beyond the general experience of use. In synthetic tests from Antutu, the Xiaomi Mi 9T gets a score of 218,000. The Redmi Note 7, meanwhile, gets 144,000 points, almost half.

This difference is mainly due to the integration of a more advanced GPU in the case of the Mi 9T, which will directly influence the performance in games. Another aspect to highlight has to do with the different types of memory that both terminals integrate: UFS 2.1 versus eMMC.

The former, at least in technical data, gets twice the speed when writing and reading data, which will affect the performance of applications and the system. The greater amount of RAM in the Mi 9T will also influence the number of applications that the terminal can run without reloading the content.

Autonomy and connectivity

There are few differences that we find in the section of connectivity and autonomy, at least as far as technical data is concerned.

Both terminals use a 4,000 mAh battery, and both have 18 W Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging via USB type C. The efficiency of components such as the screen or the processor should give us results in higher screen hours in the Xiaomi My 9T, although nothing significant.

In terms of connectivity, both have Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band WiFi compatible with all frequencies and an audio jack for headphones. The differences between one and the other are found in the infrared sensor of the Redmi Note 7 and the NFC technology of the Mi 9T. Both have FM radio.

Conclusions and opinions

After seeing all the differences between the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 vs Xiaomi Mi 9T, it is time to draw conclusions, which are measured largely by the price of both phones.

From 179 euros and from 329 euros is the price at which we can find both terminals today in the official store. 3 and 32 GB in the base version of the Redmi Note 7 and 6 and 64 GB in the most basic version of the Mi 9T. Is it worth paying the 150 euros more than the Mi 9T supposes?

From our point of view, no. Currently we can find the Redmi Note 7 for a price around 150 euros in Amazon and alternative stores to this. This leaves the Mi 9T in a rather complex scenario, where it is only advantageous if we prioritize aspects such as the camera or the design.

We do not believe that the rest of the aspects of the Mi 9T justify, from our point of view, the outlay of more than double the amount of the Redmi Note 7. The experience in both terminals will be similar, and both will enjoy a period similar updates.
