Xiaomi Mi 9 or Xiaomi Mi 9T, which one do I buy? It can be difficult to decide. The Chinese company will soon launch the Mi 9T, a version very similar to the Redmi K20 Pro with a new name for the European market and some change in the specifications. But Xiaomi already has the Mi 9, its current flagship that comes with powerful features at an affordable price. We compare them below.
Design
We begin by talking about the physical aspect of both terminals. The Xiaomi Mi 9 and MI 9T share materials: glass back with Gorilla Glass and slightly curved corners. Of course, the triple camera of the Mi 9 is located on the left side, while that of the T model is in the center. In no case do we see the fingerprint reader, since both have it located on the screen.
Screen that in the case of the Mi 9T is panoramic, without notch since it has a sliding system in the upper area. In the Mi 9 we find a drop-type notch where the selfie camera is collected and a thin bezel at the bottom.
The frames of both models are made of aluminum. There are differences in thickness: 7.6 mm on the MI 9 AND 8.8 mm on the MI 9T. The new Xiaomi model is thicker, possibly due to the retractable system in the upper area.
Rear of Xiaomi Mi 9
The two terminals are very, very nice. The back has different gradient color finishes on the Mi 9, making it look like an elegant and sophisticated mobile. While that of the Mi 9T has a hypnotizing and very daring effect. Where the MI 9 T really stands out over the MI 9 is on its front, since it has a screen with hardly any frames and without any notch that annoys the eye. Will the Model T surpass the Mi 9 in panel quality?

screen
What mobile has a better screen? You will be surprised to know that other than the notch, there is no difference whatsoever on the screen. Both devices have a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED panel, Full HD + resolution and a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio. Therefore, no major differences regarding panel quality are expected.

Cameras
We come to the section of the cameras and here we do find a difference. The truth is that they use a very similar configuration. The main camera is 48 megapixels in both cases. Of course, in the Mi 9T it has a slightly brighter aperture, of f / 1.7 vs F / 1.9.
The second camera is wide angle on both models. Here you gain in resolution and aperture the Mi 9 to the T model: 16 MP F / 2.0 vs 13 megapixels f / 2.2. It seems that the angle is the same on the two devices.
The third lens is telephoto. Again, MI 9 wins in resolution. Camera with 12 megapixels and 2x optical zoom against an 8 megapixel lens. Also with two-fold zoom. They both have artificial intelligence, which is applied to scene recognition in order to get a better picture.
The selfie camera is 24 megapixels on the Mi 9 and 20 megapixels on the Mi 9T. Of course, this last device has a sliding camera system.
Processor, memory and battery
Where we see more differences is in this section. The Xiaomi Mi 9 remains the company's flagship for its Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, while the Mi 9T drops down to a mid-range Snapdragon 710. In both cases with a 6 GB RAM. The truth is that there is a version of the Mi 9T (K20 Pro) with a Snapdragon 855 processor, but this will not arrive in Spain. Even so, in day-to-day performance we would not see big differences beyond better latency in games and file transfers. In the internal storage the two tie with memory of 64, 128 or 256 GB.
Where the MI 9T wins is in autonomy. 4,000 mAh vs 3,500 mAh of autonomy. Both with fast charging, but only the Mi 9 has wireless charging.
Price and conclusions
The Xiaomi Mi 9 is already on sale in Spain at a price of 450 euros. On the other hand, the MI 9T can be purchased on June 12 at an approximate price of 380 euros.
They are both very interesting devices. They share some characteristics, such as screen size, camera resolution, and software. The difference is in small points, and each one stands out in some.
On the one hand, the Mi 9 has a more powerful processor, the Snapdragon 855, but the MI 9T has greater autonomy and a sliding camera system that takes much more advantage of the front. Therefore, the decision is based on what you prefer: better use of the front and autonomy, or a more powerful terminal that only costs 70 euros more.
