Comparison: samsung galaxy s2 vs htc sensation
Not only are they the most powerful phones on the Android landscape, they also share the throne of the entire smartphone realm. They are the Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation, spacious phones, with generous screens and the fastest processors in the current mobile fleet. Many of its features are quite similar, and in fact, if you hesitate between buying one or the other terminal, you are in trouble: it is difficult to choose one.
As in good boxing matches, the technical contest between the Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation is decided by points. Both phones are very even, and perhaps the small details are what make us choose one or the other, depending on what we expect from a smartphone and the performance we want to obtain from the device.
Design
If at one point the Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation clearly differ, it is in how they enter through the eyes. While the mobile of the Korean firm follows in the wake of the Samsung Galaxy S (thinness, lightness, use of plastic materials), that of the Taiwanese opts for the line started with the HTC Desire (aluminum casing, solid body, remarkable thickness, resounding weight).
Thus, the feeling of carrying a Samsung Galaxy S2 is light due to its 117 grams. The HTC Sensation weighs a little more, almost 150 grams. The difference is minimal, but the materials used for the solid construction of this device eventually give it a lot heavier feel.
screen
Here perhaps the Samsung Galaxy S2 wins again, thanks to its 4.27-inch Super AMOLED Plus panel. The level of brightness and color saturation is spectacular, and although the 4.3-inch screen of the HTC Sensation looks really good, perhaps it lacks some contrast and vividness in the tones compared to the Korean proposal. Both phones have the Gorilla Glass protection system, although for some reason, in the case of the Samsung Galaxy S2 it gives the impression that the finish is somewhat more fragile (perhaps because of the feeling that the plastic structure of the whole transfers).
Power
Both phones are equipped with 1.2 GHz dual-core processors. It is a matter of minute details assess operating performance phone with a fluid. Perhaps the Samsung Galaxy S2 goes a bit faster, using the much- applauded Samsung Exynos chip. In the case of the model that carries the NVIDIA Tegra 2, we may notice a little more power in the HTC Sensation. However, as you may already know, the edition of the Samsung Galaxy S2 that is sold in Spain is the one with the Exynos and the Super AMOLED Plus screen.
System and interface
They both run on the latest Android (currently they carry 2.3.4 Gingerbread), although it doesn't mean they look the same. The HTC Sensation installs the HTC Sense 3.0 layer, equipped with a very attractive 3D interface and a large variety of customizable floating windows (widgets). The Samsung Galaxy S2, for its part, continues to bet on the layer of the house, the TouchWiz, which is already in version 4.0, which they have called UX. TouchWiz UX really improves a lot compared to previous versions, introducing very colorful animations on flat backgrounds. However, it is possible thatthere are still many users who continue to be dazzled by HTC Sense, which in its latest version has gained a lot over what was already really good.
Applications
In addition to being able to customize the functions from Android Market, these Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation have their own applications as standard, which also help to distinguish them as values to take into account when choosing one of the two terminals (although they are not issues really decisive)
To begin with, the Samsung Galaxy S2 has access to its own store, Samsung Apps, where it shares utilities with Bada mobiles. Something that is interesting to know about this is that in Samsung Apps we can find many applications at zero cost that in the Android Market have a price above the free (for example, the game Need for Speed: Shift). In addition, this terminal installs the Hub suite (Music Hub, Social Hub, Reader Hub and Game Hub) as a multimedia and entertainment platform.
The HTC Sensation, meanwhile, is committed to platforms to exploit very specific options. An example is HTC Watch an application that connects us with a server movies that we could see on the screen mobile mode streaming (without downloading the file).
Multimedia and camera
Here the phones are really even. Both play all the formats that we can imagine, both in video and audio. In both cases, we could play DivX and MKV files, which is a hoot, if, for example, we have to use the phone as an entertainment platform and we want to watch a movie or some episodes of a series in the best possible quality.
In the camera section there is also an equidistance between the Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation. Both are equipped with eight megapixel sensors for photo and video recording function in FullHD at 30 frames per second. Next, we show you a couple of videos filmed with both mobile, so you can take a look at the video filming quality.

In photos, there will be those who applaud the presence of a dual LED flash on the HTC Sensation compared to the monoLED on the Samsung Galaxy S2. On the other hand, the HTC Sensation equips more effects and tricks to get the most out of the photos we take with the camera, although the editing and customization options prior to capture on the Samsung Galaxy S2 are more complete.
Connections
3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS … few things that we are used to seeing are going to determine which of the two phones wins this round. Yes, there are two points that are very interesting to highlight. On the one hand, the way both terminals behave when we want to use them with the DLNA wireless multimedia system. The Samsung Galaxy S2 has its own application, AllShare, which detects compatible devices and puts them on the network to transfer files between terminals. The HTC Sensation does not use a link application but integrates DLNA function in the system.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S2 has a couple of new features that help it stand out on the HTC Sensation: the MHL output integrated into the microUSB, and the NFC connection. I translate this gibberish. The first is an adapter that, for practical purposes, will allow us to connect the phone to a television or monitor through HDMI (high definition multimedia input), using an adapter. As for the second, it is a system (optional) that integrates proximity communication functions in the telephone, such as the one that would make possibleuse the Samsung Galaxy S2 as a credit card or key to open a hotel room.
Autonomy
Applause to the two mobiles also in this section. And it is that although they are mobile with a superb power, with pantallions and very loaded with options, the duration in use of both is more than remarkable. It is true that we are facing a couple of smartphones, which forces us to get used to the idea that we cannot lose sight of the microUSB connection and a plug to supply the batteries of these terminals with energy.
But considering everything they are capable of, the HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S2 perform very well, enduring a couple of days of use, giving them a reasonable trot. If we test its performance using the 3G connection intensively, and combining it with a good dose of calls, video recording and playback at maximum power and practice in several applications, it is likely that about five or six hours we will end the charge of both phones, which have a very similar behavior in this section.
Conclusions
The Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation are excellent terminals. On this basis, and considering all the above, perhaps the Samsung Galaxy S2 can win by the minimum, considering that is thinner, lighter, significantly more powerful and showing a picture quality far superior to the HTC Sensation (a Although it has a higher resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, compared to 480 x 800 pixels of the Samsung Galaxy S2).
For other users, however, the HTC Sensation wins the hand, using arguments such as its great user interface, the solvency of its camera or the solidity of the single body (unibody) aluminum construction.
