Comparison: samsung galaxy nexus vs iphone 4s
They are the two mobiles of the moment. Moreover, one could perfectly say that, in addition to being the most anticipated terminals, they have also been the ones that have generated the most expectation on the Internet, especially with their rumors. But, they have finally been introduced and we have them both face to face. These two latest generation smartphones are, on the one hand, the iPhone 4S; while on the other side is the recently introduced Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
They are two powerful mobiles that release new versions of their respective mobile platforms. While the iPhone 4S is accompanied by iOS 5, in the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus we will find the new version of Google's system: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. But which of the two models will perform better? And which of the two terminals will have better characteristics? We will see it in the following points:
Design and display
The biggest disappointment in the presentation of the new iPhone 4S was that a completely renovated terminal was expected on an aesthetic level. However, Apple simply introduced a refurbished iPhone 4. I mean, the look was still the same. The same does not happen if we take a look at the third generation of Google's mobile: the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. On the one hand, its design is larger than the previous model (Samsung Nexus S) and with a thinner chassis.
So while the iPhone 4S has measures: 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3 mm, the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus is: 135.5 x 67.8 x 8.8 mm. We already found that Samsung's new smartphone is thinner. On the other hand, one might think that being the largest Samsung mobile, its weight is higher. And anything farter from the reality. Since while it weighs 135 grams, the iPhone 4S achieves a weight of 140 grams.
In addition, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus design is more modern, ignoring the physical buttons and betting only on virtual controls embedded in the same touch screen, which achieves a diagonal of nothing more and nothing less than 4.65 inches and an HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels). Meanwhile, the iPhone 4S continues with its 3.5-inch screen and a resolution of 640 x 960. Of course, the Apple mobile manages to have a higher pixel density: 326 ppi vs 316 ppi. However, browsing Internet pages from the Samsung model will perhaps be much more comfortable. And, of course, being this compatible with Adobe Flash content. Something that still fails Apple's mobile at this point.
Meanwhile, regarding the technology used by both multi-touch panels, we have, on the one hand, a Super AMOLED HD panel by Samsung and an IPS panel by Apple's mobile.
Connectivity
In this regard, neither of the two mobiles will disappoint the customer. That is, they will have all kinds of connections, both with and without cables. Of course, we will find some differences. They will have in common, for example, that both latest generation mobiles will be able to visit Internet pages using different connections: high-speed WiFi and 3G networks. However, according to both companies on paper, Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be able to achieve a download rate of up to 21 Mbps, the iPhone 4S should be content with 14.4 Mbps.
On the other hand, both models will use Bluetooth technology, although Samsung includes the Bluetooth 3.0 version and Apple goes one step further and has opted for the new Bluetooth 4.0 version, which consumes fewer resources and better safeguards the autonomy of the terminal's battery. However, this will be an aspect that only users who have this type of connection permanently on will notice.
Following its features, both models have the ability to function as a GPS navigator or have audio output of 3.5 mm. However, the difference in the appearance of the browser is remarkable. While to use it on the iPhone 4S with directions (for example, in the car) you have to find and pay for one of the applications that do it, on the Galaxy Nexus (as in any Android mobile) we find the free Google browser. However,One of the best assets of the iPhone 4S is the possibility of being used in all markets since it integrates the possibility of connecting to both GSM networks and CDMA networks.
Finally, it should be remembered that Samsung Galaxy Nexus offers NFC technology together with the "Android Beam" application with which you can share files between terminals just by bumping the two phones, playing games in company or making payments without the need for a credit card. This possibility, the iPhone 4S does not offer.

Photo camera
The two models will have two cameras in their chassis. One in the front for video calls and another in the back of the design and that will be the main one with which to capture images and videos. Now, the iPhone 4S camera integrated in the rear has an eight megapixel sensor, while Samsung Galaxy Nexus has a five - megapixel. Although the first impression of the user may be that the more quantity, the better the camera, we will have to wait to see the results of both models. Of course, both phones have built-in Flash and are capable of recording videos in Full HD (1080p) with a rate of 30 images per second.
Meanwhile, as far as webcams are concerned, Samsung Galaxy Nexus offers a better camera with a resolution of 1.3 Megapixels compared to the VGA camera of the iPhone 4S.
Power and memory
Here again notable differences are found and where Samsung wins. On the one hand, the processor that equips the Apple mobile has a clock frequency of 800 MHz. It's the same dual-core processor that the iPad 2 uses, albeit with a slightly lower duty rate.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus offers a powerful processor, also dual-core, and signed by the company Texas Instruments that offers a work rate of 1.2 GHz. If to this we add a RAM of one GB -as is the case- we will obtain a very agile mobile in operation and without slowdowns.
Meanwhile, in the case of the new iPhone 4S, it was expected that it would also have a GigaByte RAM memory module, after some dissections by specialized media, it has been found that it will continue to have 512 MB like its predecessor.
Finally, the two phones offer a good amount of internal storage, although perhaps, the iPhone 4S goes one step further, offering a 64 GB model. Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be offered in 16 and 32 GB versions.
Operating system
Eye. In this section it will depend on the tastes of each user. What's more, it should not be forgotten that both Samsung Galaxy Nexus and iPhone 4S launch a new mobile platform. However, while Apple has opted for some improvements in terms of services and some additions such as the notification bar in the purest Android style. The star component of iOS 5 is its personal voice assistant baptized with the name of: Siri. Of course, this service -in beta phase, at the moment- is only available at the moment in several languages, where Spanish is not found.
For its part, Google has done its homework and introduced Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. A completely new and renewed version of the Internet giant's icon system, where you can find a completely new user interface with interesting services such as: Android Beam to make use of NFC technology, People APP to have all the data of the contacts and being able to communicate faster with them, improved widgets such as the email manager or the ability to unlock the terminal through facial recognition.
Summary
Although it is true that they are the two mobiles of the moment, Samsung Galaxy Nexus offers that point of amazement and novelty that has not been found in the iPhone 4S. And simply because Apple has not renewed its design and has maintained the same appearance as the current iPhone 4. And that has made the disappointment of many Apple fans obvious.
Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy Nexus offers both novelty at the aesthetic level and at the operating system level. In short: Samsung has managed to surprise the public with a large terminal, although very thin and lighter than the iPhone 4S, also adding the latest technology available on the market.
Finally, the price of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the first price rounds is around 650 euros. While Apple, for its part, will also start selling the new iPhone 4S starting at 630 euros and reaching up to 840 euros in the case of the 64 GigaBytes version; a somewhat exorbitant price if you take into account the few improvements that they represent over the previous model.
