Comparison: samsung galaxy ace plus vs samsung galaxy ace
With the announcement of the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus, Samsung updates its best-selling mid-range terminal, the Samsung Galaxy Ace, exercising a strategy similar to the one it already wielded with the Samsung Galaxy S Plus. On this occasion, some sections of its technical profile improve, while others remain as is.
Interestingly, it could be interpreted that some of the changes could play to the detriment of the new device. Let's take a look at the features of both devices to be able to analyze how the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus has evolved compared to the Samsung Galaxy Ace.
Design
The appearance of both terminals is very similar. However, there are changes. On the one hand, the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus wins in simplicity and minimalism; on the other, the new device has dimensions different from those of the first generation Samsung Galaxy Ace.
This can be seen especially in the width and height of the new Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus, which due to the installation of a larger screen, has had to increase. The thickness of the recently presented device, however, decreases a couple of tenths, thereby gaining in thinness.
screen
More changes. The Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus has a 3.65-inch panel, which is higher than the 3.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Ace. It is still a TFT-type multi-touch screen, although it is not the only thing that remains. And this is where a small disadvantage between the two could be interpreted when opting for the new terminal. We say this because the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus has the same resolution as the Samsung Galaxy Ace -320 x 480 pixels-, which, at a larger size, can translate into a certain loss in image definition.
Connectivity
Nothing new under the sun of the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus. This phone, like its predecessor, offers 3G connection at 7.2 Mbps theoretical download, as well as Wi-Fi, DLNA and GPS. At the local level, it repeats with microUSB ports, mini- jack for headphones with 3.5 mm plug and Bluetooth wireless sensor. The caveat is that the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus installs the Bluetooth port in version 3.0, while the Samsung Galaxy Ace does so in the 2.1 edition.
Photo camera
Both phones share a five megapixel sensor and two separate flash LED to illuminate dark scenes. However, there are a couple of details that help us to differentiate these terminals. For starters, the location of the camera.
In the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus, the whole is centered on the back of the device, while in the Samsung Galaxy Ace it is located in one of the margins closest to the side of the housing. On the other hand, now the camera has improved in capture quality when it comes to recording video. With the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus it will be possible to record sequences with a maximum HVGA resolution, as well as with a scan of 30 images per second.
Media player
Identical profile that coincides in this section between the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Ace. Both have a player that recognizes MP3, MP4, WMA, WMV, AAC, OGG, H.263, H.264 or WAV formats.
In other words, the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus still does not recognize the advanced DivX or MKV video formats, just as the Samsung Galaxy Ace did not. There is always the option of downloading a dedicated application that allows you to play these formats, although, as we say, little evolution has taken place in this regard.
Hardware
The Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus improves noticeably at this point. For starters, it renews the processor, which can now reach a speed of one GHz, compared to the 800 MHz of the Samsung Galaxy Ace. The RAM memory also grows: now, the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus has no less than 512 MB equipped.
As for the internal memory, which is intended for data storage, the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus presents three GB as standard, expandable with an additional 32 GB if we use microSD cards. The improvement over the Samsung Galaxy Ace is that it necessarily required external memory cards to carry data with us on the phone, since it lacks internal capacity as standard.
Operating system and applications
Although the Samsung Galaxy Ace was already going on sale in its latest units with Android 2.3 Gingerbread installed, the reality is that this terminal officially comes with Android 2.2 FroYo as standard. Not so the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus, which as we have seen among its specifications, will carry the latest version of Android as a pre-installed platform.
Moreover, both phones are compatible with applications from Google, as well as those of Samsung, available through the portal Samsung Apps. As standard, however, the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus carries the Korean firm's proposal to exploit the benefits of push messaging . It is called chatON and is an alternative to WhatsApp or iMessages, being equally closed than these - that is, both the sender and the receiver of the message must use the same application.
Feedback
A fundamental point to be able to decide on one or the other terminal is in the price. The Samsung Galaxy Ace costs, in free format, about 260 euros - there is a wide range of operators that offer it from zero euros as a grant with conditions -.
The Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus does not yet have an official price, although it seems very likely that it can be obtained for free with the help of telephone service companies. The doubt would be in the free mode.
If the price is similar, or perhaps a bit higher, the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is still a good bet, despite the fact that the increase in screen without the growth in resolution works against the image definition it offers. However, the presence of a more powerful processor or internal memory as standard are enough arguments, although not totally defining, to consider getting the second generation instead of the first.
