The Samsung Galaxy A6 + has hit the market stomping. There are many users who trust a brand like Samsung and its new proposal offers good features at a competitive price. However, we want to know if it is really worth it compared to other models of similar price and characteristics. So we are pitting him against some of his strongest rivals.
If the other day we put it face to face with the Huawei P20 Lite, today it is the turn of another of the most powerful models of the Chinese manufacturer. Design
At the design level we have two similar bets. This year the crystal is taken, but not all users just like it. This is why Samsung has decided to launch the Galaxy A6 + with an all-metal rear. A more classic design that glass detractors will surely like.
In addition to the metal, two elements stand out on the back of the Samsung Galaxy A6 +. The first is the double camera, located in the center and in a vertical position. Right below we have the fingerprint reader. The second is the antenna lines, located at the upper and lower ends.
Ahead we have a screen with narrow frames, but quite visible. The upper frame is used for the front camera, while the lower frame has no use other than to facilitate grip.
The full dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy A6 + are 160.2 x 75.7 x 7.9 millimeters, with a weight of 191 grams. As we will now see, it is considerably heavier than its rival.
Quite similar is the back of the Huawei terminal. It is also completely metallic and also shows off the antenna bands on the top and the bottom.
Huawei decided to place the double camera in the central part, also in a vertical position. Right under the camera we have the fingerprint reader. This one is round and is very well integrated into the design.
On the front we have a screen with frames on the top and bottom. The one on the top has the double front camera, while on the bottom frame we only have the Huawei logo.
The Huawei Mate 10 Lite has dimensions of 156.2 x 75.2 x 7.5 millimeters. Its weight is 164 grams. That is, it has a very similar size but with a much lower weight.
screen
The Samsung Galaxy A6 + has a 6-inch Super AMOLED panel with an FHD + resolution of 2,220 x 1,080 pixels. This translates to a screen with a density of 411 pixels per inch.
It also has the Always On Display function. That is, we can see important information at all times, such as the time, notifications and even the status of the battery, without having to turn on the mobile.
Huawei Mate 10 Lite has a panel with 5,99 inch resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. It offers an 18: 9 aspect ratio and a body-to-screen ratio of 83%. The density stays at 407 dots per inch.
That is, we have two terminals with a screen that is practically identical in size and resolution. But then we will draw better conclusions.
Photographic set
We are now going to talk about the photographic section of these two terminals, which we have a lot to tell.
The main camera of the Samsung Galaxy A6 + is dual. It has a main sensor with 16 megapixels of resolution and f / 1.7 aperture. The second sensor has a resolution of 5 megapixels and aperture f / 1.9. It is equipped with an autofocus system and is capable of recording video in FHD resolution.
But if the Samsung terminal stands out, it is in its front camera. It has a camera for selfies with no less than 24 megapixels of resolution and f / 1.9 aperture. In addition, we have some very interesting functions at the software level, such as the Selfie Focus or the stickers.
On paper, the Huawei Mate 10 settles for a simpler set. Although it also hides a surprise on its front.
The main camera is composed of a 16 megapixel sensor, which is accompanied by another 2 megapixel sensor. The function of the second sensor is to achieve the desired bokeh effect that everyone is looking for.
On the front, the Huawei Mate 10 Lite also includes a dual camera system. On the one hand, it has a 13-megapixel sensor with f / 2.0 aperture that focuses on the image itself. Next to it is another sensor, this one with 2 megapixels and 1.75 µm, which captures color and depth of field.
Processor and memory
The Samsung Galaxy A6 + hides inside an eight-core processor running at 1.8 GHz. The manufacturer has not wanted to specify the model of the chip. It is accompanied by 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. A capacity that we can expand using a microSD card of up to 256 GB.
For lovers of numbers, we can tell you that the Samsung Galaxy A6 + got 69,749 points in the AnTuTu test.
On the other hand, the Huawei Mate 10 Lite is equipped with a Kirin 659 processor from Huawei. It is a chip with eight cores, four running at 2.36 GHz and the other four at 1.7 GHz.
Accompanying the processor we have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The storage capacity can be expanded using a microSD card up to 128GB.
We have not had the opportunity to test the Huawei Mate 10 Lite, so we cannot give you its results in the AnTuTu test. However, looking at the technical data, it should be more powerful than its rival.
Autonomy and connectivity
And how are these two mobiles autonomy? Well, first we can tell you that the battery of the A6 + is larger than that of the Huawei terminal. But let's take a closer look at the data.
The Samsung Galaxy A6 + equips a 3,500 milliamp battery. In our in-depth test, the terminal lasted a day and a half without problems. Only with a very intensive use its autonomy remained in the whole day, which is not bad.
In the AnTuTu battery test it got no less than 18,046 points. A sample of the great work that Samsung has done in terms of software and energy consumption.
In terms of connectivity, the Samsung A6 + is a Dual SIM terminal. It also has a microUSB port, a 3.5 mm miniJack output for headphones, and an integrated FM radio. At the wireless level we have Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi and NFC. The latter allows you to use the Samsung Pay application for contactless payments directly from your mobile.
The Huawei Mate 10 Lite is equipped with a 3,340 milliamp battery. As we said, we have not had the opportunity to test the terminal, so we can not talk about real autonomy. According to manufacturer data, the terminal offers a talk time of up to 20 hours. This should translate, on paper, into up to two days with normal use. We therefore understand that you will have no problem getting to the end of the day.
In terms of connectivity, as with the Samsung terminal, we have what is fair and necessary. It equips WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX and USB 2.0. Of course, it does not have NFC, something that the Samsung terminal does have.
Conclusions and prices
We reached the end of the comparison and we must draw conclusions. If something has become clear, it is that we are facing two large terminals. Its design is very similar, with a similar size, with metal as the main material and with a screen with reduced frames. So, as we always say, you will have to decide the taste of each user.
As for the screen, we only have one difference between these two terminals. While the Mate 10 Lite has an LED panel, the A6 + uses Samsung's well-known Super AMOLED. Perhaps this could give you a slight edge. But it is also true that the difference, for most users, will be invaluable.
If we talk about photography we think that the Samsung Galaxy A6 + camera is one step ahead. It offers a double sensor, like its rival, but both are brighter.
For selfies we have two very different proposals. The A6 + bets on a single camera with good brightness and high resolution. The Huawei Mate 10 Lite prefers a dual camera system, albeit with less luminous sensors.
But if we talk about brute force we think that the Huawei Mate 10 Lite is ahead of the Samsung terminal. It has 1GB more RAM, more storage, and a more powerful processor.
Without having thoroughly tested the Mate 10 Lite, we suspect that the Samsung Galaxy A6 + will be ahead in autonomy. And it is that the Samsung terminal achieves an excellent result in the AnTuTu test. A figure that few terminals can offer.
But let's talk about money. The Samsung Galaxy A6 + has just hit the market and has an official price of 370 euros. On the other hand, the Huawei Mate 10 Lite has an official price of 350 euros, but you can already get around 300 euros easily. So, which one do you choose?
