The mid-range of Samsung and Huawei is full of interesting devices within reach of all budgets. This is the case of the Samsung Galaxy A50 and Huawei Mate 20 Lite, two models that today we want to put face to face to see which one is more worth choosing. Both come with an infinity panel design with notch, good performance, as well as a battery for several days.
However, they present important differences. Of the two, the Samsung Galaxy A50 includes a better main camera. It is made up of three sensors, while the Mate 20 Lite only has two. However, this team has a double camera for selfies, something that in its rival is reduced to one. On the other hand, the screen size of the A50 is 6.4 inches and uses Super AMOLED technology. The one in the Mate 20 Lite is a 6.3-inch IPS LCD. On the other hand, the Galaxy A50 has a fingerprint reader under the panel. The Mate 20 Lite has a physical one on its back.
If you are doubting between one of these two mobiles and want to get rid of doubts, do not stop reading. We explain everything to you below.

Design and display
Both the Samsung Galaxy A50 and the Huawei Mate 20 Lite have a design with reduced frames to give more prominence to the panel. Of course, the A50 manages to take better advantage of it thanks to its notch in the form of a drop of water. The notch on its rival is much more prominent, which can be somewhat uncomfortable for many users. Both are made of glass and metal, a very common construction in mid-range or high-end mobiles.
Turning it over, the design changes completely. The A50 has a cleaner look, as the company has placed the triple sensor in the upper left corner. There are no distracting elements, just the company logo in the center. You will wonder where the fingerprint reader is. Samsung has included it under the panel, a detail that gives it more modernityrelative to your competitor. For its part, the Mate 20 Lite is shown with a somewhat more "loaded" rear. Its double camera and the fingerprint reader are included together in a side strip placed in the center of the device. The company stamp is not missing a little further down. In terms of measurements, the Galaxy A50 is somewhat lighter. Its exact measurements are 158.5 x 74.7 x 7.7 mm and 166 grams of weight vs the 158.3 x 75.3 x 7.6 mm and 172 grams of weight of the Mate 20 Lite.
If we focus on screen size, the Samsung Galaxy A50 comes out victorious, albeit narrowly. It has a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED with Full HD + resolution (1,080 × 2,340). The Mate 20 Lite uses LCD IPs technology and is 6.3 inches in size, also with Full HD + resolution (2,340 x 1,080 pixels).
Processor and memory
At the performance level, the two house very common processors in the mid-range inside. With none, we will have problems when working with current applications or carrying out several processes simultaneously. In any case, we must not forget that these are equipment for the mid-range, so more demanding tasks, or very current games that require higher performance, could run less fluid than in higher-range devices.
Specifically, the processor of the Samsung Galaxy A50 is an Exynos 9610 (4x Cortex-A73 at 2.3 GHz + 4x Cortex-A53 at 1.6 GHz) along with 4 or 6 GB of RAM. For storage we have 64 or 128 GB to choose from, with the possibility of expanding this space through the use of microSD cards. For its part, the Huawei Mate 20 Lite hides under the hood a Kirin 710, with four ARM Cortex-A73 cores with a speed set at 2.2 GHz and four, smaller, ARM Cortex-A53, which operate at a speed of up to 1.7 GHz. This model offers 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage (expandable via microSD).
Photographic section
Without a doubt, in this section the Samsung Galaxy A50 is victorious, although, yes, whenever we talk about its main camera. This consists of a first 25-megapixel lens and f / 1.7 aperture with autofocus, accompanied by a second 8-megapixel wide-angle lens with f / 2.2 aperture, as well as a third 5-megapixel sensor with f / 2.2 aperture with functions. different Among them we have the possibility of obtaining captures with a selective focus, which we can modify when we have taken the photo, or take a blurred or bokeh photo.
The main camera of the Huawei Mate 20 Lite is double: 20 and 2 megapixels with telephoto lens and focus aperture f / 1.8 in both sensors. However, this model comes out better with the front camera, as it also includes a 24 and 2 megapixel dual lens with f / 2.0 focal aperture. The only front sensor of the Galaxy A50 has a resolution of 25 megapixels and aperture f / 2.0.
It is true that buying a phone is something very personal, but if you are really looking for a mid-range one with a good sensor for selfies, the Mate 20 Lite performs better in this regard. In addition, the Huawei Mate 20 Lite camera application includes augmented reality technology. In this way, we can superimpose stickers or icons on real scenarios. The A50 is more capable of capturing images head-on. During our tests it performed quite well, giving us images with a good level of brightness, color and saturation. As for the selfies, it is true that the final results are not entirely convincing, especially when compared with its rival or with higher-end models. In any case, with a little patience and good light it is possible to enjoy portraits that are not bad at all.
Battery and connections
The Samsung Galaxy A50 and Huawei Mate 20 Lite are prepared to last several days without going through the plug, although, as always happens, this will depend a lot on the use we give it. The first equips a 4,000 mAh battery with 15W fast charge. We were thoroughly testing this section, and we realized that with intensive use the terminal was able to last all day without problems, it even had some battery left for the next day. With intensive use we refer to games that consume a lot of autonomy, such as Pokémon Go, talking on the phone, using social networks or pulling a lot of the camera.
The Mate 20 Lite's battery is somewhat smaller. It has a capacity of 3,750 mAh and includes a fast charge of 18 W. To give you an idea, when idle it is capable of lasting more than 90 hours. With moderate use, it can go up to two full days. However, even if the device is used more fully, it can last the entire day without having to resort to the charger.
When it comes to battery, both offer a wide array of options: 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a / c, NFC technology, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C 2.0.

Pros of the Mate 20 Lite: double front camera, battery for several days, dual SIM or price (currently it is 100 euros cheaper than the A50).
