Comparison samsung galaxy a3 2017 vs alcatel a7
Table of contents:
Buying entry-level phones is not what it used to be. Now, we can get terminals with quality hardware for less than 250 euros. That is why we have decided to analyze two current market proposals in that price range. These are the Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 and the Alcatel A7. These two terminals make the most of their capabilities and offer us some really interesting elements for their range, such as the IP68 water resistance of the Galaxy A3 or the 3 GB of RAM. of the Alcatel A7.
We are going to analyze the design, performance, camera and autonomy of both phones, and to see which of the two brands offers a more complete device.
Design and display
Both in the case of Samsung's A3 2017 and Alcatel's A7, we are facing two terminals with a fairly premium finish. Both, finished in metal and with a central button, offer attractive rounded shapes. The Galaxy A3 2017 is thinner, with 7.9 millimeters of lateral thickness compared to 8.94 millimeters for the Alcatel A7. Samsung's terminal is also lighter, weighing 138 grams, while the Alcatel A7 is 164 grams.
Surely part of the fault for that difference is the screen. There is almost an inch of difference between the 4.7-inch screen of the Galaxy A3 2017 and the 5.5-inch screen of the Alcatel A7. The Samsung phone has a Super AMOLED panel, of better quality, but its resolution is lower, HD compared to the IPS screen of the Alcatel A7, with Full HD resolution.
We therefore have a first conclusion: the Galaxy A3 2017 is lighter and more comfortable, but also smaller and with a worse screen resolution than the Alcatel A7.

performance
In terms of the processor, both phones use a fairly similar processor. The Galaxy A3 2017 works with a 1.6 GHz Exynos 7870 chip, while the Alcatel A7 opts for a 1.5 GHz Mediatek MT6750T. The Alcatel terminal, however, scores a bit by offering 4 GB of memory RAM and 32 GB of ROM, compared to 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage in the Galaxy A3 2017.
As for the hard drive, both have Android 7 Nougat, so there is not much difference there. Even so, globally we must say that the Alcatel A7 has more powerful hardware and with more possibilities than the Galaxy A3 2017.
Camera
We are going to analyze that element that is so important when choosing our phone, the camera. The Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 has a 13-megapixel rear sensor with f / 1.9 aperture, autofocus and LED flash. In front, an 8 megapixel lens also with f / 1.9 aperture. In both cases it allows recording in Full HD resolution.
The Alcatel A7, for its part, has a 16-megapixel rear camera with f / 2.0 aperture and phase detection autofocus. The front sensor is 8 megapixels, with flash. As in the Samsung mobile, both cameras can record in Full HD.
The general assessment is that the two terminals have a fairly similar camera hardware. It would be necessary to do a thorough test on the possibilities of the software in each model. Of course, at the user level, the two cameras are tied.
Autonomy and extras
In this aspect we do notice an important difference between the two terminals. The Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 uses a 3,000 mAh battery, while the Alcatel A7 goes up to 4,000 mAh. It is true that the Alcatel phone has almost an inch more screen, which affects the consumption of resources, and it also has 1 GB of RAM. However, the difference is still large enough for us to consider that the Alcatel A7 will offer better autonomy. All this without detracting from the 3,000 mAh battery of the Galaxy A3 2017, which will surely offer a fairly long time of use without charging.
As for the rest of the functionalities, the two mobiles have a front fingerprint sensor, NFC connection, Bluetooth 4.2 and LTE. Of course, the Galaxy A3 2017 marks an important point by incorporating IP68 certified water resistance, the same that we find in phones like the Galaxy S7. This makes a big difference in terms of day-to-day driving.
Conclusions and price
After evaluating all the main elements of these two mobiles, we cannot draw a firm conclusion. The decision on which mobile is better must be made depending on the type of consumer we are. If we are interested in a more manageable phone that resists inclement weather, we would opt for the Galaxy A3 2017. On the other hand, if what we value is that it is more powerful and is displayed with greater size and resolution, the best decision would be the Alcatel A7.
As the price is the same in both cases, around 230 euros, the economic part does not affect the decision. It's convenience versus performance. The final decision, then, remains in your hands.
