The POCOPHONE F1 has revolutionized the mid-range of Android. Its powerful technical set, with the same processor that many high-end use, achieves a performance without equal in its price range. It also has a double camera, a very good autonomy and a large screen. All this with an official price of 330 euros. Do you have a rival in the mid-range? Well today we wanted to compare it with the Honor 10, one of the best terminals of similar price that we have tested.
The Honor 10 equips Huawei's most powerful processor. And, although it has less RAM, it is also capable of moving any application without messing up. In addition, its dual camera with AI has little to envy that of much more expensive mobiles. In short, we are before the best mobiles between 300 and 400 euros on the market. But which is better of the two? To find out, we put the POCOPHONE F1 and the Honor 10 face to face.

Design
Sometimes when we make comparisons of two mobiles it is difficult for us to find differences between them. Increasingly, as the latest models released all follow a similar pattern. However, this time we have many differences between the two phones that we are comparing.
The first and clearest comes in the design. One way to save costs on the POCOPHONE F1 has been its back cover. This is polycarbonate, which is a finish that simulates metal. Although the touch is good, it is not the same as when you are in front of a mobile made of glass.
However, the use of plastic has certain advantages. It gets much less messy, it's light and it's stronger. The rear camera is located in the central part and in a vertical position. Right below we have the fingerprint reader, which works very well.
The dimensions of the POCOPHONE F1 are 155.5 x 75.3 x 8.8 millimeters, with a weight of 180 grams. It is available in black and blue, although it has two other finishes that could arrive soon: red and kevlar.
The Honor 10, however, does offer a premium design. The back is made of 15 layers of nano-scale optical coated 3D glass. The idea is that the terminal changes color according to the incidence of light.
The rear sports a very clean design, with the double camera located in the upper left part. This has been placed in landscape format and protrudes slightly from the case. The edges are rounded, both in the back and front, thus facilitating the grip of the terminal.
We have the fingerprint reader located on the front, in the purest Huawei P20 Pro style. The full dimensions of the Honor 10 are 149.6 x 71.2 x 7.7 millimeters, with a weight of 153 grams. The difference in weight is considerable, but the size of the screen is also considerable. It is available in black, gray, blue and green, the last two being the most striking.
screen
The POCOPHONE F1 has a 6.18-inch screen with FHD + resolution of 2246 x 1080 pixels and 403 dpi. It has an 18.7: 9 aspect ratio, a maximum brightness of 500 nits, and a 1500: 1 contrast ratio.
At the top it has the famous notch, with a considerable size. We also have some frame at the bottom, although this would not be necessary, since there is no element.
The Honor 10 is equipped with a 5.84-inch panel with an FHD + resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 pixels. The screen offers a 19: 9 aspect ratio and also has the notch. However, that of this model is much smaller than that of its rival in this comparison.
At the bottom we also have a frame of considerable size. However, this time it is more justified since, as we said before, the fingerprint reader is located here.
Photographic set
We now turn to talking about the cameras. We have two very different proposals, although both have a double sensor.
The POCOPHONE F1 has a 12 megapixel main sensor with 1.4 µm pixels, f / 1.9 aperture and Dual Pixel focus system. The second sensor is much more modest, with 5 megapixels of resolution, 1.12 µm pixels, and f / 2.1 aperture. This is basically used to achieve the blur effect in portrait mode.
As for the front camera, we have a 20 megapixel sensor. Both cameras are assisted by an artificial intelligence system for scene detection. The one on the main camera detects 25 categories of objects and up to 206 different scenes, while the one on the front camera is capable of detecting up to 10 different scenes.
The main camera is capable of recording video in 4K resolution at 30 fps. Also in slow motion with 1080p resolution at 240 fps.
The Honor 10 has a rear camera made up of a 24 + 16 megapixel dual sensor. Both have f / 1.8 aperture. As for the front camera, we have a sensor of no less than 24 megapixels.
In addition to its great technical set, the Honor 10 has a complete artificial intelligence system. It is capable of recognizing more than 500 scenarios in real time, classified into 22 categories. On the other hand, you can identify the outlines of various objects around you, such as the sky, plants, or people. It also supports semantic image segmentation technology, allowing the Honor 10 to identify multiple objects in a single image.
As for video, the Honor 10 can also record in 4K resolution at 30 fps. Mind you, slow motion is limited to 120 fps.
Processor and memory
And we come to one of the strengths of the Xiaomi terminal: brute force. The POCOPHONE F1 hides inside a Snapdragon 845 processor manufactured by Qualcomm. It is accompanied by 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64 or 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage.
In addition, it is equipped with a liquid cooling system designed exclusively for gaming smartphones. We were already able to verify in our in-depth analysis that, although the temperature increase is noticed, it keeps it quite controlled.
With this hardware the performance is, as you can imagine, really good. In the AnTuTu test he got a score of 262,852 points.
But be careful, because his rival is not short. The Honor 10 is equipped with the Kirin 970 processor, manufactured by Huawei. It is a chip manufactured in 10 nanometers, with eight cores (4 x 2.4GHz Cortex A73 and 4 x 1.8 GHz Cortex A53) and that is accompanied by a 12-core graphics processor.
Along with the Kirin 970, we have the Neural Processing Unit (NPU). It is an extra chip dedicated to introducing artificial intelligence functions that, as we have seen, acts on the camera.
The processor is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and two storage versions: 64 or 128 GB. What does this combination translate into? In 193,188 points in the AnTuTu test. So, as we imagined, in the performance tests the POCOPHONE F1 far exceeds the Honor terminal.
Autonomy and connectivity
I have had the opportunity to test both terminals and both have endured the whole day without problems. The POCOPHONE F1 has a 4,000 milliamp battery and features Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging system.
The Honor 10 has a 3,400 milliamp battery. It is less capacity, yes, but we must bear in mind that the screen is much smaller. It also comes with the Super Charge 5V / 4.5A. This fast charging system achieves 50% battery in 25 minutes.
In terms of connectivity, the POCOPHONE F1 stands out for including Bluetooth 5.0 although it does not have NFC.
Conclusions and price
Now is the time to draw conclusions. In terms of design, we always say that it is something very particular to each user. But this time we must give Honor 10 as the winner. The materials used by Xiaomi in the POCOPHONE F1 are inferior to those of the Honor terminal.
The screen should not be a decisive feature, at least on a technical level. It is true that the Honor 10 has a higher resolution, but the screen of the POCOPHONE F1 performs perfectly. We will have to decide what our ideal size is.
More important are the differences at the photographic level. The POCOPHONE F1's dual camera performs really well, even in low light conditions. But the Honor 10 system seems superior to me. Artificial intelligence does a great job and the two sensors offer higher quality.
And if we talk about brute force, we must give the Xiaomi terminal as the absolute winner. The POCOPHONE F1 has a more powerful chip and 2GB more RAM. Performance tests don't lie.
In autonomy, the POCOPHONE F1 is ahead. The Xioami terminal equips a larger battery and, although the autonomy of the Honor 10 is good, it shows in the daily performance.
We still need to talk about the price. The POCOPHONE F1 is available with an official price of 330 euros. As for the Honor 10, we currently have it for 370 euros of offer on the company's own website. Perhaps searching the Internet we will find both models somewhat cheaper. So, which one do you choose?
