You may soon want to change your mobile and are looking at alternatives. Today we are going to compare two devices that, although they have some differences, they have quite a few similarities to each other. We are talking about the Nokia 8 and the Huawei P10. The first has been recently announced and will hit the market next September to gain a foothold in this high-end telephony. Its main distinguishing feature is its carefree design and a dual camera with Carl Zeiss lens.
The second is already available for some time in stores. It offers a somewhat more elegant design than its rival, although it also includes a double camera (in its case signed by Leica). Both are powered by an eight-core processor and have a fingerprint reader and Android 7. If you want to know which of the two is more worthwhile and its main differences, do not miss the following comparison.

Design and display
At first glance, the two devices present an attractive aesthetic that leaves a good feeling. In the case of the Huawei P10 we can assure it, since it is already available to purchase. To get a closer look at the Nokia we will have to wait until September, although we already know much of its design after its presentation. It is a very simple piece of equipment with a chassis made entirely of 6000 series aluminum. This means that its casing is quite resistant to bumps and scratches. We cannot say that it is too thick or heavy. The exact measurements of the Nokia 8 are 151.5 x 73.7 x 7.9 millimeters and its weight is 160 grams. It is, therefore, somewhat thicker and heavier than its rival. The Huawei P10 measures 145.3 x 69.3 x 6.98mm and weighs 145 grams.
Returning to the Nokia 8, the device can be chosen in several colors: warm blue, pale blue, polished copper and steel. In addition, it offers a fingerprint reader on the front, something that always comes in handy to make payments or increase security.
If what you are looking for is an elegant and manageable phone, the Huawei P10 may be a better option. It also has a metallic casing, made of aluminum, but its lines are more sober and serious than those of the Nokia 8. This is perhaps because it combines metal with glass, something that can be seen on the back. If we turn it around, we see that it is a terminal with a cleaner and more orderly appearance than that of its rival. We found a very small band in the upper part where the double camera is housed, which is positioned horizontally instead of vertically. This model also has a fingerprint reader on the front.
The Nokia 8 screen has a size of 5.3 inches and a QHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels). It is a glossy polarized panel, which in turn is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 glass layer. This will give it a fairly significant resistance against scratches or accidental bumps. The Huawei P10, however, cannot boast so much in this section. It has a somewhat smaller screen, 5.1 inches, with a lower resolution: Full HD. In any case, it is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and includes a very large ratio. As Huawei commented during the presentation of the device, it has a 56% higher ratio than that of the iPhone 7.
Power and memory
Both the Nokia 8 and the Huawei P10 are powered by an eight-core processor. The first of them specifically has a Snapdragon 835 (four of its cores running at 2.45 GHz and the other four at 1.8 GHz). This will combine its functions with 4 GB of RAM. Likewise, users will have an internal storage capacity of 64 GB, expandable through the use of microSD cards.
The Huawei P10 houses inside with a Kirin 960 eight-core processor up to 2.3 GHz of speed and 4 GB of RAM. It must be said in its favor that the use of RAM has been optimized with a technology known as Ultra Memory. This implies that it can offer the same performance as those devices that have 6 GB of RAM. For its part, the storage is also 64 GB, expandable by microSD card of up to 256 GB.
Photographic camera
It cannot be denied that the two devices boast a camera. Of course, with some quite marked differences. We start with the Nokia 8. This model has been announced with a dual sensor, a 13-megapixel RGB and a 12-megapixel monochrome. One of its strengths, something that gives it very positive publicity, is that the optics are from Carl Zeiss, a commonplace in the brand's mobiles. The terminal also has a video option called Dual Sight. Thanks to it, we will be able to record videos with the rear camera and the front camera at the same time. These original videos have been dubbed Bothie. There is also a double LED flash. On the other hand, on the front there is a secondary camera with a resolution of no more and no less than 13 megapixels with an aperture f / 2.0 (the same as the main one).
Huawei, for its part, has enlisted the help of Leica to build a camera to match the Huawei P10. In your case, mount a dual sensor with SUMMILUX lenses of aperture f / 1.8. The lenses are 12 megapixels (RGB color) and 20 megapixels (monochrome). The camera does not stand out at all because its design is completely flat, something that will be liked by many users. This camera also has some functions such as hybrid autofocus or hybrid zoom. As for the front sensor, it has 8 megapixels and f / 1.9 aperture. It accepts portrait mode and monochrome mode, which supports Bokeh.
Connections and operating system
The Nokia 8 and Huawei P10 offer a wide array of connectivity options. Both have Bluetooth (version 4.5 in the case of the Nokia 8 and 4.2 in the P10) or GPS. There is also a USB Type-C port for fast file transfer or NFC. Of course, both computers have WiFi and LTE connection. About the operating system we can say that both Nokia and Huawei have opted for Android 7. The Finnish model will come standard with version 7.1.1 and Huawei's device is governed by Android 7. The platform is accompanied by the EMUI 5.1 customization layer, which is more minimalist and user-friendly.
Drums
In recent times the battery has become one of the characteristics that we most pay attention to when purchasing a device. This is because given all the functions it offers we do not want to run out of autonomy at a minimum. The Nokia 8 has been featured with a 3,090 milliamp rating. Although the company has not provided specific data on its duration, it is possible that it will be able to last more than a full day without problems. It is important to mention that this terminal makes use of Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology, so we will be able to charge it in less time.
The Huawei P10, for its part, is equipped with a 3,200 milliamp battery. According to the company, this allows us to enjoy this phone for an average of 1.8 days of use. There is also no lack of technology for fast charging, so with just half an hour of charging we can use the P10 for a whole day. Also, the terminal includes different modes to save battery. We can manage this from the settings section itself. There we can see the percentage, the use of it, or activate the different energy modes.
Price and reviews
In the comparison we have been seeing the main differences and similarities of these two phones, which will have to compete face to face from September. Moment at which the Nokia 8 will go on sale. We cannot deny that the Finn has done a great job with this device. It's really going to make it difficult for some leading brands. However, it has yet to reach the level of Huawei or Samsung on some concrete details. For example, the design. Even having been manufactured on a 6000 series aluminum chassis, it is somewhat rougher and gives the impression of a somewhat lower range. Instead, the Huawei P10 "screams" on the outside as it is on the inside.
The camera, despite including a dual sensor with Carl Zeiss optics, has a lower resolution than the Huawei model. Of course, we will have to see how it responds in more exhaustive tests. For the rest, the Nokia 8 complies in terms of performance, screen or battery, which also comes with fast charging. The P10 also excels in these sections with performance very on par.
The prices are also very similar. The Nokia 8 will hit the market for 600 euros. The Huawei P10 can be purchased for about 550. In any case, there is always the option to use it through a contract of permanence with operators.
