Motorola's Moto G terminals have earned, for many years, the title of kings of the mid-range. However, in 2018, the so-called mid-range is at a very high level. Motorola has already moved a tab with the launch of the Motorola Moto G6. But will the changes made by the manufacturer be enough? We have some doubts, so we wanted to compare it with another of the terminals that has recently conquered the hearts of users with a tight budget. We are talking about the Huawei P20 Lite, the new "cut" version of Huawei's top of the range.
What weapons does the new Moto G6 have? A bigger screen, dual camera system, glass body and a more powerful interior. Weapons that, by the way, are very similar to those of their rival in this comparison. Let's see which of the two is the winner. We put the Motorola Moto G6 and the Huawei P20 Lite face to face.

Design
The Motorola Moto G6 has undergone a major design change, although this could have been more radical. It now offers a glass back, with a rounded edge for easy grip. The camera, as usual, is delimited by a circular frame that protrudes quite a bit from the housing.
In the back we have nothing else. The fingerprint reader has been placed on its front, in the usual oval shape. Although it is true that the frames have been reduced, they are still very present. In the lower frame we have the fingerprint reader and the Motorola logo. The front camera is located on the top.
The Motorola Moto G6 has dimensions of 153.8 x 72.3 x 8.3 millimeters, with a weight of 167 grams. At the moment it is available in black and silver.
The Huawei P20 Lite also bets on the glass for the back, with metal edges. It has the dual camera system located in the upper left corner. This has a vertical format, just like we see in the Huawei P20. The central area of the back is reserved for the fingerprint reader, very well integrated.
Ahead we have a far superior use of the front than its rival. As with the high-end models, the Lite version of the P20 uses a notch to stretch the screen to the maximum. We do have a small frame at the bottom that, on the other hand, only has the brand's logo.
The full dimensions of the Huawei P20 Lite are 148.6 x 71.2 x 7.4 millimeters, with a weight of 145 grams. It is available in four colors: black, blue, pink and gold.
screen
Let's talk now about the screen. The Motorola Moto G6 equips a 5.7-inch screen with FHD + resolution. Despite its name, a 1080p resolution is maintained. Although yes, it has gone to an 18: 9 aspect ratio.
As for its rival, the Huawei P20 Lite has a 5.84-inch panel with a FHD + resolution of 2,244 x 1,080 pixels. This screen offers an 18.7: 9 aspect ratio, with a density of 408 pixels per inch.
Photographic set
Considering the design and the screen, perhaps the third characteristic of a mobile that we give the most importance to is its set of cameras.
We start with the Motorola Moto G6. At the back of this terminal we have a double camera system. This is made up of a main 12 megapixel sensor with f / 1.8 aperture and a second 5 megapixel sensor that will allow us to achieve the much desired blur.
As for video, the main camera can record in 1080p resolution at 60 fps. In addition, it comes with many software-level features, such as landmark recognition, object recognition, text scanner, spot color portrait mode, face filters, panoramas and manual mode.
Selfies are handled by an 8 megapixel sensor. This is capable of recording video with 1080p resolution at 30 fps. At the software level, we have group selfies mode, beautification mode, manual mode and face filters.
Its rival in this comparison also sports a dual camera system on its back. Specifically, it equips a 12-megapixel f / 2.2 main sensor that collects all the color information and a second 2-megapixel f / 2.4 sensor that is responsible for detecting the background to create the bokeh effect or portrait mode.
The front camera has a 16 megapixel sensor with f / 2.0 aperture. In our in-depth test both cameras were acceptable, especially the front camera.
Processor and memory
Inside these two contenders we have a mid-range technical set, but enough for many users. Without being the most powerful processors on the market, these are chips that perform well and are accompanied by a good amount of memory.
The Motorola Moto G6 hides inside a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor. It is a chip with eight cores operating at a maximum of 1.8 GHz. The GPU is an Adreno 506 at 600 MHz.
Accompanying the processor we have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The latter is expandable using a microSD card of up to 256 GB.
As for its rival, it opts for a home processor. The Huawei P20 Lite equips a Kirin 659 chip manufactured by Huawei. It is a processor with eight cores, four running at 2.36 GHz and the other four at 1.7 GHz.
Accompanying the processor we have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. That is, exactly the same amount of memory as its rival. And, unlike the Huawei P20 Pro, the Lite model does have a microSD slot.
Autonomy and connectivity
At the beginning we said that, being very different, these two terminals kept many similarities. One of them is the capacity of your battery.
Both devices are equipped with a 3,000 milliamp battery. The Motorola Moto G6 also has a Turbopower charger. This will give us "hours of battery with only a few minutes of charge." At least this is what Motorola indicates on its website, without further information.
The Huawei P20 Lite also equips a fast charging system. This terminal we have had the opportunity to test it thoroughly, getting the battery to overcome the full day without problems.
And in terms of connectivity, both terminals have practically the same. We have support for 4G LTE networks , 802.11ac WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and USB Type-C connector. No surprise in this regard.
Conclusions and price
Now that we have reviewed its characteristics, it is time to draw conclusions. Go ahead that the Motorola Moto G6 we have not yet been able to test it thoroughly.
The one that we like more or less the design of a terminal is, as we usually say, very personal. Personally, I see much more achieved by the design of the Huawei P20 Lite, despite the notch. It looks more modern and premium. Although it is fair to point out that both terminals use the same materials.
Something similar happens with the screen. The Huawei P20 Lite panel has a higher resolution and size. Perhaps with an FHD resolution it is enough for a panel less than 5.8 inches, but we will have to wait to see how the screen of the Motorola Moto G6 looks.
In the photographic section, in the absence of testing it, we are going to give the Motorola terminal as the winner. Why? Because the main sensor of its double rear camera is much brighter than that of the Huawei P20 Lite. In addition, the second sensor offers higher resolution.
The opposite happens if we talk about the front camera. The sensor for selfies of the Huawei P20 Lite seems far superior to that of the Moto terminal, at least in resolution.
And in terms of brute force, we again break a spear in favor of the Huawei terminal. The Kirin processor achieves great results in the power tests, beating even the Samsung Galaxy A8 2018. We do not believe that the Snapdragon of the Moto G6 is ahead, although we will have to wait for the tests to confirm it.
We can only compare the autonomy and connectivity. Both have the same battery capacity and the same connections, so we give a draw.
We do not forget the price, something that can be decisive. The Motorola Moto G6 can now be reserved on Amazon with a price of 270 euros. The Huawei P20 Lite, however, has been on sale for a while, with a price of 370 euros. That is, we have a difference of 100 euros between them. Which one would you choose?
