Design and display
2018 has been the year of the notch or notch, practically all the terminals that have come out during that year carry this feature on their screen. In the little that we have in 2019 it seems that this trend will continue at least for the moment. Both the Redmi Note 6 Pro and the LG Q9 have the famous notch on their screens. In the Xiaomi terminal this has a justification beyond aesthetics and that is that it has two cameras on its front.
We continue with the screen, the LG Q9 has a 6.1-inch screen with QHD + resolution and 19.5: 9 format, which gives 564 pixels per inch. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro has a 6.26-inch screen with FullHD + resolution and 19: 9 format. The screens have a similar size, what is different is the resolution, as is logical, the LG Q9 screen has more definition as it has a higher resolution and it will be more difficult to see pixels if we look at the screen very closely.
The design of both terminals follows the guidelines that we have been seeing since last year. We are faced with two terminals with reduced frames to achieve a larger screen diagonal in a smaller size of the terminal. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is built in metal, its back cover being entirely made of metal, the LG Q9 instead is built in metal and glass, its edges are metal, but its back cover is made of tempered glass. So it is up to the choice of each user and their preferences regarding construction materials.
Power and memory
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is a terminal intended for the mid-range and therefore its specifications are consistent with the sector for which it is intended. Inside we will find a processor signed by Qualcomm, the eight-core Snapdragon 636 accompanied by 3GB or 4GB of RAM. The LG Q9 instead has specifications that remind us of the flagship terminals of 2017, we are facing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 with four cores accompanied by 4GB of RAM. Both terminals have 64GB of storage and are expandable via microSD card.
The technical specifications give the LG Q9 as a clear winner in power, but it should not be overlooked that they are different processors and focused on different uses. While the Snapdragon 821 is intended to offer maximum power for higher performance in any type of application or game, the Snapdragon 636 is intended to offer good performance, but with greater importance on energy efficiency. Both processors are capable of moving games and heavy applications, only the LG Q9 will have less trouble doing so.
Cameras
The mobile photography section has become vitally important in recent years, many of us use our mobile devices as cameras for any moment or situation. The LG Q9 has a 16-megapixel camera on the back and an 8-megapixel camera on the front. The rear camera is capable of taking pictures with high dynamic range, which facilitates its use in situations where lighting is difficult. Also, it records at 1080p 30fps, 1080p 60fps and 720p at 120fps. The interesting thing about this camera is that it has Artificial Intelligence or AI that will be able to detect the corresponding type of scene and adjust the parameters in the camera application to get the best possible image.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro has a double rear camera, there are two sensors of 12 and 5 megapixels respectively with a 1.9 focal length and a pixel size of 1.4 µm. On the front we also find a double camera, two sensors of 20 and 2 megapixels respectively with focal length 2.0 and pixel size of 1.8 µm. The rear camera also has Artificial Intelligence to enhance scenes. By having two lenses, the blur effect will be more realistic as the camera will have more data when measuring depth. It also records in 1080p at 30fps, 60fps, and 720p at 120fps. Both terminals have cameras that are more than solvents, it already depends on whether we want to have more possibilities to use by having more than one lens.
Featured Features
When deciding on one mobile or another, what matters in the end are the differential sections that make it practically unique. LG with its LG Q9 is committed to sound and therefore includes an integrated 32-bit HiFi QUAD DAC, with this DAC we can listen to music at the highest quality, but as long as our headphones are capable of playing this quality. In addition, and with power so we do not need a bluetooth speaker while we consume multimedia content. It is also resistant to water and dust.
The terminal of the Asian firm, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro has facial unlocking thanks to its double front camera. One of them is designed to recognize the faces of users. Its strong point is also the autonomy thanks to the 4000 mAh battery and its processor designed for efficiency. In addition, its double rear camera gives very good results when it comes to making the famous bokeh effect. Which of the two would you buy?
