It was during yesterday afternoon when Huawei presented the new Huawei Y5 2019, a terminal oriented to the low range that renews a good part of the characteristics of the Huawei Y5 2018 launched by the Asian firm last year. In front we find terminals such as the Huawei Y6 2019, a device that is quite similar to the terminal of the same brand. Which mobile is better and which one is worth buying? Design
The design is, together with the internal hardware, one of the aspects where the two terminals of the Chinese brand have fewer differences.
Design of the Huawei Y6 2019.
This year Huawei has decided to opt for a body made of synthetic leather and plastic whose colors are similar in both the Huawei Y6 2019 and the Huawei Y5 2019. Perhaps the most significant difference between one and the other is found in the dimensions, with a difference just one centimeter high, 0.3 centimeters wide, 0.05 centimeters thick and 0.4 grams in weight.
In this sense, the Huawei Y6 is somewhat larger than its counterpart, although nothing exorbitant if we consider that the screen is 0.4 inches larger in the case of the Y6 2019. Another aspect that should be noted about the Huawei Y6 2019 is which has a fingerprint sensor on the back, unlike the Huawei Y5 2019, whose only unlocking method is based on software face unlocking.

As far as the front is concerned, the two have similar lines. Notch in the form of a drop and frames somewhat smaller than those of past generations and more used in the case of the Huawei Y6 2019. Specifically, the ratio of the latter reaches 87% of frontal use compared to 84% of the Huawei Y5 2019.

Few differences are found as far as the screen is concerned. And is that in the absence of testing both terminals in hand, the panel in both cases is the same. So we can see it on the roadmap on your screen.

In the case of the Huawei Y6 2019 we find an 18: 9 screen with IPS LCD technology, 6.09 inches in size and HD + resolution. The same panel is found in the Huawei Y5, with the difference that it consists of only 5.71 inches.
As for other aspects such as brightness, color representation and viewing angles, everything indicates that they will be similar in the Huawei Y5 vs Huawei Y6. It should be noted that in both cases the panels are certified by TÜV Rheinland to reduce blue light emissions with the aim of reducing eye fatigue.

The new generation of Huawei Y5 and Huawei Y6 has taken a huge leap in terms of photographic quality compared to past generations.

In both cases we find the same rear sensor with 13 megapixels of resolution and focal aperture f / 1.8. Although between the two devices we will not find any difference when taking pictures, Huawei ensures that the camera of both devices is capable of capturing 50% more light in low-light photographs compared to models from years past.
As far as the front camera is concerned, here the differences are more tangible. A single 8-megapixel sensor and f / 2.0 focal aperture is what we find in the Huawei Y6 2019. In the case of the Huawei Y5 2019 we find a similar 5-megapixel sensor and f / 2.2 focal aperture.
The technical differences tell us that with the Huawei Y6 we will get sharper and brighter photos even in low light situations. Both have facial unlocking technology through software, and both have portrait mode and beauty mode, as well as a front flash that relies on the maximum brightness of the screen.
Processor and memory
In the hardware section we do not find big differences between the Huawei Y5 2019 vs Huawei Y6 2019. In fact the only difference is found in the processor.
A Mediatek Helio A22 CPU along with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage is what we find in the Huawei Y6 2019. In the case of the Huawei Y5, the CPU is based on the well-known Mediatek Helio P22, and its configuration memory is identical to that of the Y6 2019, except for the internal storage, which ranges from 16 to 32 GB. In both cases, it is expandable through micro SD cards up to 512 GB.

How is all this data translated into a real user experience? The truth is that although we have not tested any of the terminals in hand, everything indicates that the performance will be identical in both cases, especially when both incorporate Android 9 Pie under EMUI 9 as the base system.
The processor integrated in the two devices offers performance with hardly any differences, as does the RAM memory, which in both cases should allow us to run the same number of applications at the same time. Not instead the internal memory, which in the case of the Y5 starts from 16 GB instead of the 32 GB of the Y6. Fortunately, we can expand the internal storage to via memory cards.
Autonomy and connectivity
As in the design section, Huawei has decided to recycle part of the components used in its low-end 2019. And it is that both the Huawei Y5 2019 and the Huawei Y6 2019 have exactly the same connectivity and the same battery.

In the absence of more technical data, the two terminals have 802.11 ac WiFi, Bluetooth (possibly version 4.2), headphone jack, Dual SIM, FM radio and micro USB connection. It should be noted the presence of NFC in the case of the Huawei Y5, although only for some markets. It remains to be seen if it ends up finally reaching the European and Latin American market, although everything points to yes seeing the history of the low-end in Huawei.
Regarding the autonomy section, the two low-end mobiles of the Chinese firm integrate the same 3,020 mAh battery. Regarding the latter, the larger screen size of the Y6 and the integration of a somewhat less efficient processor makes us think that the results in screen hours will be somewhat lower than those of the Huawei Y5. Unfortunately, we do not find fast charging in any of the cases.
Conclusions
After analyzing all the highlights of the Huawei Y5 2019 vs Huawei Y6 2019, it is time to draw conclusions. Although it is true that Huawei has not made official the price and the date of departure of any of the terminals, the history during the last three years makes us think that we will find values that will start from 149 and 119 euros in the case of the Y6 and Y5 this year. Starting from this premise, the question is compelling. Is it worth spending 30 euros more to opt for the higher version? From our point of view, no.
Huawei Y5 2019.
The Huawei Y6 2019 is only recommended if we prefer to opt for a screen larger than 6 inches. The rest of the details of both devices are practically identical, except for the front camera, which in the case of the Y6 is significantly superior, and the fingerprint sensor, which the Y5 lacks.
In contrast, the Y5 offers superior autonomy due to its smaller screen size and NFC connectivity for mobile payments. At the discretion of each one, it is necessary to give more importance to some virtues than to others, although we will have to wait for the official release of both models in Spain to confirm both the price and the basic capacities of RAM and ROM.
